George Hirst 16:47 - Aug 17 with 3137 views | Wallingford_Boy | He needs someone to push him doesn’t he?! Had a shocker today, the sooner we get another striker the better.

George Hirst on 16:50 - Aug 17 with 2251 views | Metal_Hacker | He was superb today all things considered Looks the real deal at this level being the number 9 and will only get better He looks stronger , more aggressive and confident

George Hirst on 16:51 - Aug 17 with 2239 views | SE1blue | Stole the ball and broke into the area, then crossed the ball that got the goal kind of shocker?

George Hirst on 16:53 - Aug 17 with 2207 views | Simonds92 | Very good performance today, held the ball up so well and made the goal from his pressing. Puts Szmodics in with a lovely ball too. Literally have no idea what you were watching.

That's funny you were the first to reply, two posters that overdo things in the extreme either way. He was not excellent at Birmingham, a tough game for him as it was for many others. Today he was decent linked up played well and showed flashes of what he could do but will struggle to make a massive impact for 90 minutes I think with the way he plays. HIs role in the Szmodics effort showed what he can in terms of chance creation as well. Done everything right until the weak shot for the chance in the first half. Desperately need a like for like through the door to bring on after 70 and challenge him though. [Post edited 17 Aug 16:54]

George Hirst on 16:54 - Aug 17 with 2165 views | _clive_baker_ | Sorry what? He was responsible for/ heavily involved in just about everything good we did today. Led the line really well, just a shame we had nobody on the bench to freshen it up with.

I agree. Worked hard and held the ball up well. Got a mauling from their defenders, but no protection from a Ref the Saints players and manager were bossing. Even to the point of one of their players telling the ref to change his decision and book our player. What GH could do with is better service from the midfield. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

George Hirst on 17:01 - Aug 17 with 2032 views | pointofblue | Not a shocker but I didn't think he was at his best today. I also think he played a part in the equaliser, by being too flatfooted he allowed Southampton to start the break.

George Hirst on 17:01 - Aug 17 with 2030 views | Zx1988 | He was absolutely goosed come 70mins, most likely as a result of the incredibly intense press that we played during the first half. The only reason we need that second striker is to allow him a rest after 60mins of extreme effort.

Ref gave a lot our way first half, probably more their way second. On the whole I think he controlled it quite well.

Respect your view but disagree. It's a bloody hard role that he plays. Holding the ball up and making a lot of running to allow us to play. Could he have done better with his big chance? Maybe but he created the goal with his power. Held the ball up well I thought and did the same at Brum. He gives everything.

He's been average in both games. No question about his work rate but not really very effective. I suspect in the back of his mind he knows he's playing 90 minutes so isn't playing at full pelt yet.

George Hirst on 17:17 - Aug 17 with 1713 views | cbower | Wow, just wow. Like every other player, Hirst needs somone to push him and it would be nice to have someone to share the load and come on for 20-30 minutes but to say he had a 'shocker' today is bobbins. Not sure if you actually believe this yourself or as Garv has indicated, I am amongst a number of posters to have taken your bait, but really you are way wide of the mark again.

George Hirst on 17:18 - Aug 17 with 1675 views | billlm | Didn't think he was that great today, BUT, I half wondered if McKenna said to him baring injury you basically have to play for 90 minutes so chase down what you think is a worthy cause, normally it's probably busy a guy for 70 minutes then your being hooked, What do I know,
