Just a manager being salty and coming up with something to excuse a 3 nil defeat at Charlton. Most managers would've used it to their advantage to help cultivate a bit of a them and us rhetoric and galvanise a squad rather than crying about it.

That is absolutely idiotic. I'd be bloody annoyed if McKenna came out with something similar, particularly as it was a fairly obvious outcome from the beginning.
The reaction to that situation is absolutely baffling.
Of course the game is getting replayed there is literally no other way to resolve the issue. This has happened before the league is just following the precedent they set.
I stumbled on to this thread by Bristol City fans and its ludicrous. People suggesting they should water the pitch and then replay 10 minutes lol. Mckenna is a sly opportunist. Ashton obviously getting heaps.

Let's be honest, they're acting like this because they know it's highly unlikely they'd win a replay. We won't make the same mistake twice. They were my outside tip for relegation and nothing in the last week has made me think otherwise.
It's just a pathetic excuse isn't it? Embarrassing. McKenna would never even consider such an excuse never mind say it out loud. I'd be amazed if the Blackburn fans would fall for that!
Not quite sure what has happened with all the outcry about this decision. Really baffles me. And appears to be affecting them very badly. Just come back, face us on an awkward Tuesday night up north, and do it again – they should be capable of that but you sense the mental baggage is piling up.

Plucky minnows get chance of beating giant bully, then have it snatched away by kow-towing authorities. It's so unfair!
At least that is the apparent narrative. As if poor playing conditions were a reasonable handicap, given that everyone - including Blackburn - seem to assume we would inevitably win under normal conditions.
I think it is actually more about wishing to take Ipswich down a peg or two, as the richly-funded, just relegated club with an over-clocked squad. Much like we used perceive Leicester two seasons ago.

Even normally sensible folk such as Henry Winter lost their minds over it. Henry’s very long tweet about the “injustice” of it all was quite bizarre.
i expect it did affect his players; having to play 30+ minutes on an unsuitable pitch, really takes it out of your legs.
if only there was a way to remedy this (maybe spend your time, energy and money on fixing the recurring problem rather than moaning with no precedent of a resolution)
It's odd, as surely a manager's role is to prepare the team for the upcoming fixtures, only focussing on aspects of prior games to highlight areas to either improve or acknowledge were done well.
I think it's basically admitting that a manager was not doing his job . . .

It’s perfectly simple. Game was abandoned through no fault of Ipswich Town before 90 mins plus added time could be played. Replay it.
All costs paid for by Blackburn who bear some responsibility for the only professional club pitch in the north west unable to handle the heavy rain through lack of investment.
All this harsh on Blackburn? - it really isn’t. It would have been had they been 1-0 up Portman Rd and the ref had to abandon it due to a sub standard pitch not draining properly.
But when alls said and done there is no perfectly fair solution. Replaying it and rescinding Greaves’ Red card was the only sensible outcome and always will be to a situation like this.
Their manager saying it affected them at Charlton. Well if it did, he wasn’t doing his job properly and should be fired for his trouble. Tool.
I had a look at Bristol City’s OTIB forum in lieu of tonight’s game. Oh dear, it’s still got it’s cadre of very strange life forms. Best avoided.
He will probably dine out on it for a while. Just an excuse for a really poor defeat. Professional footballers, being paid thousands a week, shouldn’t be impacted by an abandoned game.

I doubt pub-league footballers would be impacted by an abandoned game, let along well paid professional ones.

I'll say it again:
The rain wasn't even cataclysmically heavy.
It was persistent, moderate rain in the First Half, then moderately heavy rain for most of the Second Half. I walked back 10 minutes to the car. My coat was wet, my trousers were wet. But I wasn't soaked through.
I have been in much heavier rainfall than that in the UK.
