He was one of several reasons why we weren't very effective last night but, given the amount of match-time he's had since he's been here and the disjointedness of our attacking play then it's not a great surprise.
It didn't help that the ref last night basically gave Rob Dickie permission to have his hands on Azon's shoulders everytime the ball went towards him. |  |

And from what I saw, he looked pretty handy in his previous cameos. Strong in a challenge, a bit 'niggly' with the opponents (Delap-esque), good work rate and tricky in the box.
Last night he was less effective, but the ref gave him no protection.

And of those matches he’s yet to play 90 mins. Against Derby he came on very late on, against Blackburn he came on when the tide came in and I think against Pompey he came on in the 70th minute. Very harsh to judge him in those matches. [Post edited 1 Oct 15:14]

He's strong , physical and is as fit as fiddle

He's young, he's moved to a new country and in to a very difficult league, arguably the hardest level he's played at. Like Egeli he'll need time to adapt and adjust.
There might be questions around whether going into the season with only 2 out and out 9's including him is / was the right call, but that's not on Ivan. Personally I would've liked some additional and more proven competition for the role, but we are where we are. |  | | |
