I was just looking at that as well, it was even 2 more points with the same about of games played now (21) They’re surely down, very funny. They will win the league at a canter though, and dread to think what they will charge for a ticket. Hopefully we won’t have to worry.

The owners thought the 3 clubs coming up following our relegation, would be as horrendous...and therefore no need to spend was in for a rude awakening

Not so sure on that last part... the financial implications for them going down are pretty massive. They'll lose half their ticket revenue with no tourists, they dont have many saleable assets at good ages either. The ones they keep will be on loads of money even with relegation clauses. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Or for those of us a bit older how Col who v Manchester City at Layer Road in March 1999 after City got relegated to league 1. And it was live on Sky.

Col U v us in 2006 felt surreal enough. Standing outside an away pub watching an Evening Star van go by felt weird.

| West Ham on 07:01 - Jan 7 with 1550 views | PioneerBlue | With the exception of Burnley perhaps, they are fully into the yoyo mindset this will surely be a very hard moment for the likes of Wolves and WestHam should they be relegated. I cant see them having the setup behind the scenes, let alone on the pitch to fix that up in season 1, although i can see those two eventually getting themselves back together with all the parachute cash for up to three years. | |

With you all the way. I detest everything about them. Many of them wanted Moyse out and they got their dearest wish. Lasted well. Should they go down, they have one saleable asset in Bowen but he’s also their only decent player. I very much doubt they’ve contingency planned for relegation. It’s hardly likely to have been on the radar given the abject performance of most promoted sides for years. I’ve no idea how their finances work with the Olympic Stadium - hopefully badly. I’d happily see them go bust and the area left to Leyton Orient. A more likeable club.

Yup, Norwich are just regional rivals, no real dislike apart from footy banter, whereas that lot…
| West Ham on 07:50 - Jan 7 with 1339 views | NthQldITFC | Other clubs are sort of perpetually what they were at the point when you formed your first real memories of football, aren't they? For me, WHU were about the sixth biggest London club behind Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea, QPR and Palace ('the team of the eighties'), ALL of which except maybe Arsenal trailed behind us and Liverpool and Forest and Villa and Manure as England's 'big' clubs. Now The Irons have the second biggest club stadium in the country (full of tourists), but they'll always be little also-rans West 'am to me. [I do know that most of the above is a load of twaddle from any objective perspective.] | |

A good friend of mine is a West Ham fan, and was a season ticket holder until a few years ago. He reckons the move to the Olympic stadium has slowly killed them. A ground unsuited to football, with zero atmosphere, dependent on filling seats with tourists who have now lost interest so tickets are being flogged cheap to avoid the stadium looking half empty. They have failed to get a decent centre forward for years now, and Antonio's importance to the team (not scoring, but the energy and press, creation of space for others) has become clear now he isn't there. Bowen will obviously leave if they go down, and without him they have no threat at all. Add to that all the well known issues with the owners and I'd not be certain that they will bounce straight back.

We don’t get a lot of Norwich fans in Benters in fact I don’t think I’ve seen or know of one. Unfortunately we get loads of West Ham fans as in the 1970s,we had a population boom by two large housing estates being built and out they came. The locals call them 01ers or Chip Eaters.

| West Ham on 08:37 - Jan 7 with 1177 views | bsw72 | Bottom 3 currently in the PL are performing worse that the bottom 3 at this stage last season based on points per game. Only goals conceded last season was worse at this stage, but goals scored was the same and last season after around 20/21 games bottom 3 hadq 36 points vs 32. While in the relegation zone. we were also level on points with Wolves on 16 points and a point behind Everton who were on 17 points, right now 17th place is 7 points adrift of safety. Be interesting to see how things land after the games this evening, and what does this tell us - honestly not a lot, but was curious, as after all last season's bottom 3 were the "worst bottom 3 ever relegated from the Premier League" or some such similar nonsense. | | | |
| West Ham on 08:46 - Jan 7 with 1114 views | baxterbasics | I think we were slightly unlucky last year in that no PL team already there really imploded in a big way. It looked for a while like Wolves might, even Man Utd, but they all mustered enough to move up the table and the same three that came up went back down. This season looking quite a different story. | |
