| Wes Burns on 23:14 - Jan 20 with 1533 views | FrimleyBlue | He and the medical team have worked wonders Acls are not easy injuries to overcome especially without suffering other injuries in the process of recovery like hamstring pulls on the opposite leg etc. You wouldn't look at him and think he was out for a season But also for wes too hes getting stuck in. That itself isn't an easy thing to do after such a time out. Mentally its tough. [Post edited 20 Jan 23:16]

Yeah, I hope he gets another crack at the Prem. He had a ropey start last season, but just as it looked like he was stepping up a level his injury scuppered his season. He's got to have been our best value signing of the gamechanger era?

It's very, very quiet.
I can walk to the pub. |

He stretches opposition, he’s direct, he keeps his game simple, he creates space. Adds a different dimension to the side, look another level up when he plays. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
| Wes Burns on 23:43 - Jan 20 with 1240 views | BeachBlue | I'm holding my hands up right now and admitting I was wrong about Wes Burns' return from injury. I'm a big fan of his, though my Dad is the real "Stan" as Eminem would say. I honestly thought he wouldn't be the same, but I am so pleased I was wrong. His pace is still there and he appears to have a greater upper body strength now. I couldn't be happier to be wrong about it. | |

| Wes Burns on 07:57 - Jan 21 with 871 views | Central_Blue | Wes has been excellent, and I’m delighted for him and us. McAteer was very good when he replaced him last night too. Think watching someone playing the role exactly as Kieran wants it played will be really helpful to him, as well as Wes’s presence taking the pressure off him. | | | |

The question now is what to do about Walle Egeli? Wes has had more impact than him in only a few games, so he needs to play. Normally players Walle Egeli’s age would be sent out on loan, but that seems unrealistic. Yet we don’t really need 3 RWs and he needs to play every week.

SWE will likely start at Sheffield. We are going to have to use Wes sparingly over the coming weeks and months. We can carry 3 RWs, we use 2 in every game.

I don't see this as being anything but positive for Walle Egeli's game to be honest Other players his age have been slowly introduced to starting line up e.g. Omari in the last championship season, but Sindre has ended up playing more than we'd have probably wanted him to because of how ineffective Mcateer has been. So a bit of rotation with Wes will probably do him the world of good and also show him a different way of playing that role
| Wes Burns on 08:26 - Jan 21 with 729 views | Swansea_Blue | Fair points both. I don’t think we’ll look loan him out, but just hope he gets enough footie. The Hutch parallel is probably a good one and yes, we don’t want to overload Wes. We’ve got a ridiculously stacked squad and it looks like we’ve made room for a couple of more this month and will only get stronger. It’s nuts from where we were. I can’t get used to us having multiple quality options across the pitch. | |

He's clearly worked on his upper body strength while out with the injury. He's always been quite strong and gets stuck in but he's been shrugging players off with ease on his return and yet his pace still seems there which is great. Thought he was great last night as were all of the team, with special shout out to Azon who was superb.

| Wes Burns on 08:35 - Jan 21 with 644 views | Metal_Hacker | The best thing about having Burns perform as he did last night was that cut back he does to perfection , one of which we nearly scored from after their keeper somehow tipped over Azon's flick virtually on the 6 yard box That cut back so reminiscent of sooo many goals over the years A joy to see | |

Absolutely, plus his composure and awareness too. He looks up, and notices what is going on. I was thinking how many goals John Wark would score with the fantastic cut backs from Davis and Burns. Loads!

Yep Wes will still need to be managed carefully. I reckon Mcateer will start Saturday. It’s a tricky game and he adds a bit of defensive strength down that side of the pitch

Better 3 RWs than four right backs…!
| Wes Burns on 08:49 - Jan 21 with 505 views | BseaBlue | For all the money we have spent down our right hand side, he still looks the biggest threat! Hopefully Sindre will learn from him. As a side note, does it look like Wes has beefed up a bit? Maybe he's been busy in the gym during his recovery as he smashed Borges out of sight in a 50-50 in the first half! | | | |
| Wes Burns on 08:55 - Jan 21 with 457 views | BlueMoon | Great to see a player willing to take somebody on. Hope it comes good for McAteer and Egelli may well end up as a 10, who knows, but ironic that £250k Burns started over both of them on a combined total of nearly £30m. | | | |
| Wes Burns on 08:55 - Jan 21 with 456 views | nrb1985 | Thought last night that was the best we've played since Chelsea at home last season. Can't be a coincidence that was around when he got injured and last night is when he looked something like his old self?! As others have said, he is light years ahead of anybody else we have in terms of his ability to play that RW role. [Post edited 21 Jan 8:57]

Absolutely agree but I think the reason for this is he's a right footed player playing on the right side which is a joy to watch and something we've not had massively this season We tend to use a right footed player on the right and left footed on the right cutting inside which I get BUT how good is it to see a player get to the line and cut it back for change !! I'm sure SWE has done it more than I remember but the only real occasion I remember him doing it to effect was QPR away and our first goal It's good to see a different style of attack too

Yeah agree. I thought what stood out last night was our willingness to attack down both sides yesterday. This definitely hasn't been the case for much of the season. If anything, our attacks seemed to come predominantly down our right last night.
