Been watching bits of the winter Olympics, and there is an excessive amount of it on the coverage.

I remember getting a bit into it at a previous Winter Olympics. A bit like snooker it can be really relaxing and has the odd moment of mild tension and interest (couldn't quite say excitement).. Nothing more, nothing less. But every 4 years it's a nice little distraction.
That would be my take.
In summary you can't pan curling. It's just part of the joy of winter Olympics. You have the cool sports (snowboarding) and the hyper uncool curling all living in harmony. |  |

They could improve it no end if the opposition were given access to one of those yellow Council SALT bins at the far end of the rink, and could take a regulation size Chip Shop Scoop and run in their curling shoes (no skates) and chuck the grit in front of the sweepers, to give them something to really sweep up.
And one of the sweepers should have to use one of those dustpans with a long handle, to collect up the sweepings.
And all the sweepers should have to wear nylon tabards with pockets on the front, with some tissues, a packet of Tunes, and 20 Benson and Hedges in them.

Give yourself a good talking to. Cricket is a wonderful game. You can watch it, snooze through it, drink through it, natter through it. For days in long form version. Always loved cricket.
Curling? Bores me rigid. All those squeeky voices making a screech while nothing much happens. I understand the skill, but zzzz. The BBC because those women won a rare gold four years ago can’t leave it alone. It’s on all the time, the misery compounded by bonehead Cram blathering away at something he obviously knows little about.
Basketball is Zzzz too. Sqeeky shoes, very tall sweaty people, mop boy, heart attack coaches, endless scoring and the home team wins by two points. Yawn.
Darts is two dimensional dull too, but watching the crowd get ever more p£ssed is entertaining in itself. |  | | |

You have to get into it for the long haul and then it can be compelling viewing. Dipping in and out doesn’t work and I can’t spare the time - it gets in the way of posting crap on here! | |
