Those questions were really more about establishing that the club fabricated the story to them more so than actually getting answers I think.
Equally, him answering those questions in a public forum would have been monumentally stupid as the club has to shift all focus towards Monday and promotion.
Giving journalists more ammunition to spray at Kieran on Friday would have only disrupted things more.
No doubt there will come a time when the EADT have it out with Ashton over the whole thing and rightly so but IMO it is much better done in private and in the summer.

I don't think private is going to cut it. clubs will always be playing football matches so this approach risks people being able to do what they want then refusing to answer for it in case it undermines the team

The issue is people need to let it go for a bit, because if Ashton was going over it he’d have gone by now, can’t see it happening until the summer if it happens at all.
Back to football matters now, all for some anyway.
The EADT are Ipswich Town journalists them "moving on" would be a complete dereliction of duty. The fact it is happening Tuesday and not last Saturday seems wholly irrelevant with a story this big, when it concerns senior club staff lying to them and fans who pay hard earned money to the club.
Im sure they will go back to football now until the end of the season when hopefully Ashton goes, but it is good to see that some people still care about facts and accountability and aren't content with being lied to.
Thought it was a really well balanced and reasonable take. At the end they say it's likely to be one of the last words on the matter, given the club clearly want to brush it under the carpet, but I wouldn't bet against tensions rising a little in the pre-match presser.

The saying is ‘today’s news is tomorrow’s chip paper’.
They’re just dragging it out because it’s an international break.
Ashton's statement only came out on Friday, and they were presumably waiting for a reply to the questions in their article. It is also just possible that one or the other had had the day off on Monday, given there is an international break.
Just finishing it now: excellent, tough stuff. I'm very impressed with the way the big two pods have handled it. I think Mark Heath has excelled himself this week, including his Op Ed piece in the EADT; I'd written him off as being too blokey but actually there's some good journalism going on.
I think Mark and Stuart together are always excellent.
Alex is good too but doesn't quite match up to Andy Warren who is now poacher turned gamekeeper given it was he who "interviewed" Ashton.

I just hope those that still wont let it go and even talking of protests/chants realise that by doing that then it could filter through to the team.
Maybe changes will happen but now if they are to happen it will likely be in the summer we should be fully concentrating on the football.
We are at the business end of the season, would be a real shame if a certain group of supporters driven by politics contributed to a derailment of our promotion push.

99% of the time private is better, wether we as fans like that or not.
Continuing to air the dirty laundry is totally pointless and will only harm the club.
We have to trust our owners that there is some accountability and we have to trust MA that he means what he says when he apologised.
You can say he didn't mean it or complain that there is no public accountability but desperately seeking a pound of flesh is going to do the club no good whatsoever.

A superb commentary on the issue.. a must listen… a summary: on 19:23 - Mar 31 with 1177 views
They didn’t put a foot wrong, and they had real structure and insights to their review of this divisive incident.
To break down what they said, a structure I have posted on here about myself:
1. Farage is a hugely divisive hate figure, but the KOA boys completely PARKED this factor. He is a political figure of importance, and he was not their issue. And he will not be the issue for some.
2. They believe there is a LIMITED place for politics at a football club in terms of connecting with sitting MPS, behind closed doors connections with political figures
3. But Town let its brand, its IDENTITY be given over to Reform and Farage for their direct political gain and promotion. We provided them a political party broadcast, we promoted them. Printed shirts, number 10, pretend signings. There has been whataboutery about Starmer at Arsenal or Bristol Rovers, but these weren’t our club, and frankly they were very different situations and usages of the respective clubs.
4. The sheer STUPIDITY of allowing Reform in. They are grifters. Of course they were going to rinse us, they have no care for us… hence the Louise Cobbold, hence the enagagement with Norwich, the Elland Road gibe.
5. The LIES and BREAKING of TRUST. The lie that the club had been duped is unforgivable, the printed shirts supplied by the club. The EADT and TWTD/Phil are CRITICAL FRIENDS, they support this club and give it leniency. They advised the path needed to be honesty and transparency.
6. The awful and ‘blind to the situation’ PRESS RELEASE - Town were no LONGER apolitical, that was the point. That was now lost.
7. The apology, it was more like sorry we were found OUT, it was disingenuous. ‘Mistruths’ used as a distraction - be clear on then if there are any. Prior to this the EADT had asked 7 valuable questions, put them to the club, prior to publishing. Ignored.
This is the reality, and so well communicated by trained journalists.
And the final point from the pod that the club/Ashton needs to show some humility.
Hope you get a chance to listen. We’re all backing the players and manager. Let’s go and smash Brum.
Point 1 is still big for me though, Farage a nasty piece of work. But that doesn’t need to be the issue, for this still to be a significant error from the club that has been appallingly handled.
Excellent discussion, a suitably open, brave assessment of the situation.
The club can't stay quiet and hope this goes away. They have an opportunity to turn the tide right back the other way still.
Sack Ashton, find someone in house perhaps who is prepared to really front up and go beyond the norm on openness and hire someone who is prepared to do the same. Be an out-and-out beacon of openness, inclusivity and social responsibility. The Forest Green of the Prem next season, perhaps.
Good work by Philogene...... GREAT WORK BY PHILOGENE!!!

The full video is not on YouTube. Only a 2.18 minute clip. Will KOA put it up?

Thought it outstanding on how the club lied to the press - put that to bed for everyone - they actually used that word too, as they should.
Brushed over a bit the player discontent (Guardian report) and avoided the impact on future sponsorship and signings (though they'd argue that would be speculation I guess)
Where I was disappointed was how they went from the club handling has been atrocious etc. to "guess that's that then" - without properly considering that it clearly isn't just that.
If Ashton's non apology wasn't good enough for them (or us) why would it be for the club owners? Ashton had his chance to fess up and build bridges and evidently didn't. They know it, we know it, the owners know it - in what world does Ashton carry on having broken the trust of everyone around him?
That said - streets ahead of the fence sitting the other night that was put out by the BM guys.

They did question what the 'mistruths' are though.
I suspect there are none, its just Ashtons version of saying 'fake news'.

Absolutely- they destroyed Ashton's credibility. His position that others lied basically means we have a CEO who can't go in front of the press, til he dreams up a credible answer...

This is an unbelievably terrible take when the crux of the matter is gross reputational damage and division within the supporter base. And once again what did he apologize for?

Why should Blue Monday have felt obligated to cover it at all, let alone take any particular side?
I'm struggling not to really judge anyone who is having a go at them* during all this. As I said on another thread, they're a group of fans who talk about football matches as a hobby.
*Not that you've exactly gone in hard on them, but some have.

What a sh1tshow!
I bet Ashton is fuming right now. Strikes me as the type of person who would have 'advised' them to behave.
Another thing I really liked is that it validated (for me) a lot of my anger, Plenty come on here and tell us this place is an echo chamber (which it is in part) and no one else cares....which is, evidently, patently utter bobbins. So that's good to know.
And the guy talking about the abuse on social media - I literally had dozens of flag named BNP types throwing abuse earlier in the week (thankfully seems to have stopped) - I think I blocked close to 150 who couldn't respond to a tweet without an insult. Again - nice to know it's not just me (if you know what I mean)
