Why should Blue Monday have felt obligated to cover it at all, let alone take any particular side?
I'm struggling not to really judge anyone who is having a go at them* during all this. As I said on another thread, they're a group of fans who talk about football matches as a hobby.
*Not that you've exactly gone in hard on them, but some have.
I expected them to have more of an opinion on it, given that it is 'an Ipswich Town' podcast.
The CEO / Chairman lying to fans and bringing the club into disrepute is something they would have an opinion on.
Made me chuckle when Mark mentioned fence sitting. Surely a reference to BM.
Definitely - that’s why I chose those words. I understand that’s it’s maybe harder for BM but Joe had no issue in nailing his colours to the mast and I think that as a collective they should have had the balls to do the same
Brilliant podcast in my opinion. Heartening to see some journalistic integrity and an unwillingness to be bullied by the club.
I’ll be there on Monday but at the end of the day I’d rather support a community led Ipswich Town in league 1 than a premier league club that treats its fans with the lack of respect that Ashton has shown us all in the past week.
No you wouldn’t

Excellent discussion, a suitably open, brave assessment of the situation.
The club can't stay quiet and hope this goes away. They have an opportunity to turn the tide right back the other way still.
Sack Ashton, find someone in house perhaps who is prepared to really front up and go beyond the norm on openness and hire someone who is prepared to do the same. Be an out-and-out beacon of openness, inclusivity and social responsibility. The Forest Green of the Prem next season, perhaps.
God I hope not, Ashton goes and the club will not be what was to become over the next 2,3 or 4 hours.

Great podcast. They nailed it. This is really about the breakdown of trust by lying and not properly taking responsibility rather than politics. How can Ashton be trusted to tell the truth going forward? As a minimum the board need to bring in a Chairman over him and possibly they need to get rid of him to rebuild trust.

Another thing I really liked is that it validated (for me) a lot of my anger, Plenty come on here and tell us this place is an echo chamber (which it is in part) and no one else cares....which is, evidently, patently utter bobbins. So that's good to know.
And the guy talking about the abuse on social media - I literally had dozens of flag named BNP types throwing abuse earlier in the week (thankfully seems to have stopped) - I think I blocked close to 150 who couldn't respond to a tweet without an insult. Again - nice to know it's not just me (if you know what I mean)
The very fact that the EADT called for an apology rather suggests it wasn't just us bumfesters.
As always, the empty cans are rattling hardest.
I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

what are you wibbling on about?
"Ashton goes and the club will not be what was to become over the next 2,3 or 4 hours."
ashton is not the club, and is not essential to our future. mckenna is far more important, but even if he goes, we will still be itfc and we will still be competitive.
Strange when I search for this full video I can't find it. Anyone else have same result? I think it is not readily available. No comments beneath either (apart from mine just now).

I bet Ashton is fuming right now. Strikes me as the type of person who would have 'advised' them to behave.
Yeah, he's a bully - his treatment of BA confirms that.
But it feels to me like a dying premiership (Prime minister) who has lost his power, everyone knows he's lost it - and is in the last stages. Those around them suddenly get a bit more bold!

This is my thinking as well, and I think those that are waving this away are missing this point. If the club are prepared to lie and obfuscate about this, will they do it again?

It's unlisted, so not discoverable.

Remember some calling it today's chip shop paper
Definitely don't think the evening star are going to let this drop so easily, and rightly so
I quoted that in my 1st blog - and am not going to find it and embarrass anyone - and to be fair it was said at a time when it looked like it could blow over.
I don't think anyone on here saw the sh1tshow ahead.
Only a few minutes in but Mark Heath has gone in strong already, completely fairly though. But I thought it was just 40 people on TWTD that are annoyed by this?
And what gives the KOA podcast substance is that Mark and Stuart are experienced journalists who have covered Ipswich for a decade or more each and will have built up a personal and professional relationship with the club over the years that they presumably think has been shattered by what has gone on,

I was away for much of the recent excitement but did wonder what the pension fund would have made about the recent shenanigans.
The rest of the ownership are private investors but I would imagine pension funds can't afford to be quite so cavalier. Indeed, it was the pension fund that made me less queasy about the takeover because of the higher standards that might be expected. But the pension fund has diluted its stake, and it would certainly be sad if we ended up with only private investors.
It is also worth saying that I don't think Ashton would have survived in a publicly listed company.

The CEO / Chairman lying to fans and bringing the club into disrepute is something they would have an opinion on.
However, its their choice if they choose not to.
I don't understand. The BM boys gave their opinion. Maybe it didn't agree with yours but it was fair and even handed. If what they said was how they feel, then fair enough. I tended to agree with their take. I don't see why they should make up an opinon just to make others feel better.
The issue is people need to let it go for a bit, because if Ashton was going over it he’d have gone by now, can’t see it happening until the summer if it happens at all.
Back to football matters now, all for some anyway.
If Ashton is going over it, it will be pressure that forces him out. That pressure isn't going anywhere because a lot of fans are very angry over this. Time will heal. But that healing will only begin once Ashton has gone. He is the one tearing the club apart right now.
