I'd take Henry and either Webster or Davies. Davies can cover left back too.

Ashley Barnes would improve our starting 11? He didnt improve Norwich's a couple of years back...

Solly March was a player I was looking at recently as would help in an area of pitch we need bodies, whilst also adding experience. Appears he’s struggled with injuries the last year or so though.

We need experience. It's all about survival. Ashley Barnes would be a good option for me.

Very little there jumps out at you. Webster never fit take the sentiment out.
Barnes is a snail. Davies part of absolutely abysmal spurs side. They are free for a reason they are not 25 yrs old and letting their contracts run down to move to PSG
Or a top 6 side.

Is this meant as a joke?

Ashley Barnes?

Ross Barkley would be another kalvin phillips

Meslier the guy who has bern dropped for darlow or anyone else who can play in goal?

Isnt henry always out injured?

Do we need another left winger?

Here's the list of players that aren't too old, too immobile or too injury prone.

Óscar Mingueza, Souffian El Karouani, Mathias Jensen.

Big statement to suggest that all of these would improve our starting 11.

Solly March has played a total of 18 games across the past 3 seasons, He's unfortunately a spent force. Ashley Barnes is about as far away from PL quality as you can get, he was a glorified cheerleader this year. Steven Benda hasn't played a full season of football for anybody, 24 games for Swindon is his best effort. Meslier has been hounded out of Leeds because he's like Muric, but worse. Rhys Williams didn't kick a ball last season, the year before he was playing with Gwion Edwards as Morecambe got relegated out of the football league.

Brentford have already announced that they plan to activate the 12 month options on Jensen and Henry. Cirkin's career is very similar to Leif's just wholly less impressive. Barkley said on his Insta that his contract is up next summer, not this summer. Ben Davies, Adam Webster, Targett and Willy Boly would definitely not improve our back line, Webster and Davies can't stay fit, Targett isn't as good as Leif and is on a rumoured £100k a week and Boly has barely played for 2 years and is 35. Mingueza is reportedly on Arsenal and Manchester United's shortlists, El Karouani is a LB, our best player is our LB. Kamada is heavily rumoured to be heading to Milan. And ASM hasn't settled anywhere since leaving Newcastle and is the most inconsistent player going.

Mingueza and Kamada improve the 11 of the available players. Do I think we'll be in for them? Not a chance.

They’re out of contract for a reason. Maybe one or two possibilities like Callum Wilson but they feel like last resort options to me.

What about John Barnes. England player, experienced, could do a job. Certainly an upgrade on Ashley Barnes, or Mike Ashley come to that. What’s not to like?

If we are considering early 90's players as experienced lads how about carlton palmer, graham taylor loved him

Allan Saint-Maximin is an interesting shout. Still only 29 & definitely has the quality needed for the league. Has played on the left side a lot, but more than useful on the right too; as an out of contract player, worth a thought.

Still having nightmares about Mr Carlton Palmer. He waltzed through our whole team like Maradona in that hiding by Wednesday in McGiven/Lyall’s last days when the team gave up.

Yes, get him in! Experience, skill - you never lose it!

Remember that, the whole North Stand sung his name.

There's a reason for these players to be out of contract. Not all clubs are as stupid as we were under the Marcus Evans regime where players that should have been given contracts were not.
There's always a reason for getting rid of and that usually entails age, lack of form, always injured or a pain in the you know what.
You only need to look at Phillips, a player who was a top player at Leeds. Went to Man City where he charged around like a bull in a china shop and was eventually dropped. Loaned out to us with the hope of reviving his career to a level that would make him of use. Which it didn't, He rarely controlled the midfield and was then out injured. Not someone you want to be paying £75,000 a week for.
So with the money available and what is required we need to be very shrewd. I hope the foreign scouts are on the ball. We don't want another Matteo Sereni or Finidi George thank you.

I saw him in a pub in the Peak District a couple of years ago; he's probably still in better shape than Ashley Barnes

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

There's probably quite a few Ben Johnsons in that list. Not a terrible player & did fine for us when picked, but you could see why he wasn't our first choice.
