| Delap 16:37 - May 28 with 3683 views | BelsteadCav | The Twitter football mob are really after him. Someone has made a 9 minute video of him kicking people. I know he was physical when he played for us, but some of these are crazy. All I can think is the Chelsea managers have asked him to do it. Saying that, I’d still take him back on loan | |

| Delap on 16:50 - May 28 with 3066 views | giant_stow | Think you're right - someone's flipped a switch on him, as I saw a separate 8 min video on him last night. I stupidly watched most of it and he doesn't come out of it well. A bit of coward actually - most of the incidents are him catching / raking / pushing defenders after the ball's gone and they're not watching. | |

Oh 100% It does highlight how soft the game has become

| Delap on 16:55 - May 28 with 2992 views | SitfcB | A lot of those are from when he was here as well I do think a lot of them are soft, defenders go down so easily. Some would say he’s just an old fashioned striker. | |

Maybe he stands out because there’s not many about anymore. Half the defenders can’t wait to go down Like I said, I’d still take him on loan.

So he doesn’t commit needless fouls nearly every time he plays then? That video could’ve probably been double the length. More yellow cards (9) than goals (3) this season (All comps - inc CWC) (1 red card also) Equal last season 12 and 12.

No it doesn’t. It simply highlights that if someone has the necessary skills and time they can make every player look like a thug/rubbish/amazing/soft. [Post edited 28 May 17:06]

blue tinted specs aplenty on this thread. I don't like players who dish out afters when the other guy isn't looking.

| Delap on 17:16 - May 28 with 2654 views | homer_123 | Football is cyclical. It's been a while since defenders have had to cope with a forward who is happy to 'dish it out. Over recent years defenders have been used to playing with the play in front of them and centre forwards who are technical, not physical. As we have seen with long throws, set pieces etc. this season. I have no doubt that we are going to see a return to a more physical game. I'd go as far as to say that I won't be surprised to see 2 up top come back (a target man/thug and a wee man/ speedy playing of him). Also, in regards to Delap - this is actually one of the reasons he stands out from other strikers - he'd be silly not to take advantage of his style and physicality. Is it too much at times.....yep, for sure. I love it though. | |

He's physical and some of the fouls he commits are on the silly side but he's hardly some massive thug.

Did he? Doesn’t feel that way. Feels like he scored three-quarters of his goals before the new year. Edit: Just fact-checked my self. Game 20 (so the start of the second half of the season), was Fulham (a). Including that game, Delap scored five goals between then and the end of the season. And therefore, before that 7 in the first 19 games. [Post edited 28 May 18:40]

Quite a few go down clutching their heads when he hasn't clouted them anywhere near their head. Mind you , he is bloomin' reckless at times.

He is a flat track bully though. We overlook it because he was our flat track bully!

Quite possibly, but when you do something like he did in the last PL game here against WHU and just push a defender strongly in the back and to the ground for no good reason, as LD was getting nowhere near the ball, you tend to make a rod for your own back. I have no problem with a striker letting defenders know he's around, but it pays to have your brain in gear when you do it.
