I'll wager some will be, not me however. Having a Pope in goal might bring some divine intervention. Seriously though, I can't see a downside.

Yes I don't want to play 20 passes to get to the half way line. I just want the keeper to make saves, catch crosses. and good on one to one's.

Seems very astute business if it happens, we get a decent prem keeper at an age he can still be near the top of his game for a reasonable fee.

Depends how good your recruitment is. There are loads of good goalkeepers across Europe, think it's ok for fans to be a bit unsure on Pope who is coming off the back of a down year along with a serious injury.

I heard he was on holiday in Italy and Clement went to see if he could sign him but he told him to go forth and multiply! Apparently theres a little ditty about it😉

(n/t) on 07:37 - Jun 6 with 1083 views | Blue_Heath | I like the local link, the fact he's very PL experienced, but injury and recent form haven't been great. Depends if we are going to 'fanny about at the back' not sure he's a keeper to play that way. That said if he becomes our first signing a decent start, a CM next and then a forward to sort the spine and go from there.

I think the deal might be structured slightly differently and payment spread over time. Doubt we’d just use paypal.

I wonder if Newcastle even have a Papal account. I think it'll probably be a bank transfer.

Sermon funny going on if I'm getting a downarrow for that, Billm. I was hoping for praise.

| If Pope wasn't ex-Town would people still want him? (n/t) on 11:12 - Jun 6 with 625 views | blueoutlook | Yes. 250 Premiership appearances. 10 England caps. In his early 30s, not old for a keeper. What’s not to like ? We need experience and he has bags of it. Stop dicking about with it at the back, get it forward quicker. A lot of the teams in the PL aren’t playing this tippy tippy football at the back now, where it takes a million passes to get it to the half way line anyway. He is a great shot stopper, can catch the ball. So,he had one iffy season last season, but he was injured too, doesn’t make him a bad keeper. He has confidence and we are going to need people like that this coming season. 4-5 million would be a decent deal. | | | |
