Absolute disgrace that was not made known at the time, both from a football "fit and proper" perspective, but more importantly from a safeguarding perspective. If people don't know, and the club is full of youngsters and women, fans, visitors, work experience people etc- not just players. And if people dont know how would anyone spot breaches or be on their guard? |  |

I'm in no way defending Sullivan but if someone has legally (this being the key word) made their money in porn, gambling or off the back of whatever other legal vice some people disapprove of then I'm not sure you can deem them unfit to run a football club.

This is the salient question. While the pornography industry has been (mostly) legal, it has always attracted somewhat dubious entrepreneurs like Sullivan & the kind of behaviour he has been accused of (albeit over 20 years ago) should come as no surprise.
However, if you are to have a "fit and proper" test, it has to have rules and a process & presumably Sullivan hasn't actually been convicted of much (except a short sentence for living off immoral earnings in 1982). |  |

Be surprising and sad if Livesey was up to no good. I always remember his powerful interview with Jon Walters in the loss of his mum and Tony had been through the same. It was a fantastic interview and Tony has always dealt with big issues on 5 live with so much respect for the subjects. Seemed a good sort very much not like Sullivan.

I would challenge that statement, respectfully, as a woman who has been a victim of sexually inappropriate behavior by a man. It can be a very intimidating environment to be in and, regardless of the fact that she held a senior role, so did Sullivan, and the overriding feeling of being physically weaker can be hugely impactful on your response in a situation like that.
I hope I have explained that well enough. In my experience there was just an innate sense of "I can't out this behavior without putting myself in a vulnerable position. I'm scared".
However, bravo to those women who do!
Edit: also, given the state of policing around vulnerable women, as evidenced by the recent Panorama documentary on the Met Police and ingrained mysogyny, especially when dealing with allegations of sexual assault, is it any surprise when women don't have the courage to speak out,.but just choose to exit a toxic environment? All well laid out points and it’s good to have your perspective.
Brady however, is operating at executive level at that organisation and as such has a responsibility for culture, and to safeguard the employees of the club. She has, along with her leadership colleagues, failed miserably to execute that responsibility.
Can you imagine someone in the position of needing to report sexual harassment at WHU with that structure and arrangement in place? It’s a complete failure of corporate governance. | |

As I understand it, the fit and proper person test (FAPPT) did not exist when Sullivan first became involved in football club ownership at Birmingham City.
It also did/doesn't really make any moral judgement on an individual or their source of funds, just tries to establish whether they are financially strong enough to sustain football club ownership and whether they've been in trouble for activities relating to running a company.
Sullivan didn't get rich from illegal activity (maybe bordering on it at times) so any FAPPT he may have been subject to, only assessed things unrelated to the current allegations. |  | | |
