GON having a second - more detailed viewing of the new training ground today 11:23 - Jun 26 with 8373 viewsBillywitch

To my surprise, we (the people working onsite) have been told strictly nobody is to speak to him or those with him, even if we are spoken to. If we do we risk being escorted off site.
Others working here have told me that this is common practice when working here, with the same rules applied to the players before/after training.
There must be 20 season ticket holders, and regular away fans on this site. Was excited to start this next few weeks of work, bit of a dampener on it now.

Who else would give out a instruction like that the admin staff or the CEO / Chairman who has ultimate power?

Yes, I’m sure the CEO is making decisions about who the builders can talk to, presuming he has time after ordering the teabags for the canteen and cutting the grass out the front.

You seem to be confusing “ultimate power” and “all power”.

That is fkn horrible. Like they are more important which they are not. Goes right against us being a 'family' club. I'd love an interviewer to ask MA if that is the case and if so why.

Really?!

I would acknowledge any player/member of coaching team I saw around the place, whatever I am told, especially if they say hi to me!

I wouldn't grill a player on a missed chance at the weekend, but saying "good morning" to a "colleague" is polite and what you should do.

Agreed. I’d do the same. But not everybody is you. It’s a strange situation, but as I see it this is a side effect or downside if social media where some people will use any opportunity or angle for their own ends.

It’s a very different world sadly to Lyall, Burley’s time when my dad would often wander along watch them train and sometimes chat to the players.

In Ashtons recent video he said a lot of weird sh!t to be fair in his opening speech.

Total weapon.

What was weird? Seemed fairly normal stuff to welcome a new person to the team for me.

So, we’ve had Ashton’s dress sense, t shirt, brentspeak, speech, training ground ‘rules’ to beat the bloke up with. Can you think of anything else? Oh I know, let’s speculate and condemn his choice of colours for the internal decor. Doesn’t matter if it had anything to do with him. Any stick will do and I’m not a fan of black interiors.

It does feel a bit strange! I'd have thought a friendly 'Best of luck Gary' or similar would be welcomed by him.

Assuming your working for a subcontractor I'm wondering who gave you those instructions. Was it your employer or someone specifically from the club? Is it possible that someone has slightly embellished something they were told to say, and made it more than was intended?

It was weird when he was like look him in the eyes, shake his hand.

Could have been worse could have been Rosenior appointing listening to his blue sky thinking too.

ONly seemed to comment on here at the start of the month. Now is our great insider info.

Always weary of people who have only joined recently and start talking this nonsense.

I suspect if they're that worried about you talking to them, i'm sure they'd tell you not to tell the internet whats happening either.

Am i the only one that thinks this is a sensible process and simple to manage if you do the same for everyone.

The club talks of culture. Now if the training ground is to be seen as THE place to work then sure keep it entirely professional. It also limits potential slip ups during conversations.

The OP has proven he can’t be trusted to be professional and show integrity. If he was ‘allowed’ to have a chat with GO’N, he’s literally proven he’d end up posting it all over here.

I agree with Frimmers.

Nobody beyond those that engage in corporate flannel likes it. But it’s how things are and always were. I learned to play the game with such people and treat it for what it is. Just a language. You don’t have to use it.

Just listen and laugh when you’ve left the room having won your private game of bullsht bingo. As said in a previous post of seen real idiots engage on corporate speak and really good people along with everything in between. It always comes back to is that person good at their job. It’s what the owners will be judging.

With regard to KM he was very guarded in everything he said. Very professional. I liked the way he did that. I doubt O’Neil’s will have that skill but that’s up to him and who knows, he might be better at other stuff. Hope so.

Its possibly the site managements instructions when you arrive on site, usually its an induction. Days are gone when you could arrive on site with your arse hanging out of an old pair of jeans and shout out hey Wes tell Jaden to put a brew on.

The PR team? The board? The senior leadership team? It's pathetic trying to link everything to Ashton personally with no specific evidence. You know they call this a witch-hunt, right?

Like you, I'd like some context to better understand why this might have been said.

I'm very wary of reading an isolated comment online from a complete unknown, and taking it entirely at face value. Information is king, and we have too little in this instance.

The Corporate flannel is painful, but it's the world Ashton lives in, especially with US Bosses to adhere to.

He doesn't have to talk like that to the wider fanbase, but I suppose if it's in your vocabulary day in, day out, it's hard to move away from.

Just take what you need from what he says, and forget the fluff, that's what I do.

Good that he's moved away from 'Your Football Club' to 'The Football Club'

The actual building company itself would also be far higher up the list than Ashton. Hilarious that it even needs saying.

Maybe they want their workers to be working, rather than fanboying GO’N.

If staff were treated with respect, maybe they wouldnt feel the need to complain.

If treated properly, he may have come on and said that GO had been to visit, and how great it was to see him.
