No. They call them frites. French fries is a term coined by American soldiers based in Belgium during WW1.

That's just Marie Rose sauce you have with a prawn cocktail. I know about Mayo with fries/chips but not Marie Rose. That's a step too far. [Post edited 11 Jul 11:39]

My go to chips in the Spoons are Cheesey chips, then I add Mayo and Mango Chutney. Being a Spoons it comes out of bottles not those horrid little satchets 🤓👍 [Post edited 11 Jul 5:10]

Wetherspoons have lovely chips and the bottle method is fantastic.

Maybe, MAYBE, a smokey BBQ mayonnaise used sparingly but even then, it doesn't match ketchup. I'm with you on this one Lagos, although that might not be entirely helpful for your cause.. |
How on earth can you say the mayo lacks flavour, then say nothing comes up to ketchup? There's NOTHING more bland than ketchup (in my opinion) mayo tastes totally different over there, but nothing comes close to brown sauce on chips

If I make a chilli or bolognaise I always put a bit of brown sauce into it when it’s cooking,I’m not a fan of Tommy sauce though.

Hell no. Salt yes. Vinegar on chips is basically "not as bad as it should be" but actively choosing to make your chips soggy is way more weird. I'm not against it. But the concept of Mayo with chips makes a lot more sense. Egg and chips works so obviously mayo and chips works. First time my mate introduced me to mayo on chips I thought it was madness. Never looked back. And then having them on fries in the middle.of.the street in Bruges...can't be beaten.
