This is an absurdly good signing, the exact type we didn't make last time around. Can't really believe Fulham are letting him go.
Nor can my Fulham supporting son…. He is not happy with this. Says that Silva didn’t play him enough last season. Guess they are going for more ball playing CBs with the new coach.
With respect, if Kipre is playing for us in the PL I'd think something has failed in the transfer window. He's ok, but not anywhere near PL level
I think the point was that his position is left centre back, not that he will be playing/starting at left centre back. He's back up at best, don't think anyone disagrees.

Especially considering they are one of the clubs I imagine us having in our sights this season if we intend to stay up. They obviously don't see it that way!
Would be delighted with this. World Cup quarter finalist, over a decade in the top flight in England and France, plenty of life left in him, and eminently reasonable fee.
Very very canny signing, and just the sort of deal you would have hoped might be possible in 4 or 5 positions. Fingers very much crossed.
Yeah born in Spain, represented Morocco at youth international level.
Diop is another product if the French youth academy which produced 99 players at this years World Cup.
Sometimes I think about the frothing lunatics I’ve put on ignore, who will have kept replying to me again and again, but I don’t even realise they exist.
It's the sort of clever signing we didn't manage last time we went up. Plenty of PL experience at a decent age and a decent fee (half what we paid for Greaves). Raises the bar and improves us instantly. Not going to have resale value beyond what we paid for him but if we do go down will have suitors and we won't lose money on the fee.
January 08, 2026, 12:04:46 PM I've said it numerous times, from a purely defensive standpoint, I think he's our best defender. Obviously, he doesn't offer what others do in terms of everything else. Also, he seems like our only centreback that looks comfortable while playing on the opposite side of the cb pairing + he's got best recovery pace, imo.

Sounds ideal for us this season, and can understand why Fulham might have slightly higher (but possibly misguided) aspirations.
Good work by Philogene...... GREAT WORK BY PHILOGENE!!!
Not bad, if he focuses on defending he's normally fine. Just don't trust him on the ball. He had a pretty solid world cup with Morocco
Yeah, he's not a ball playing centre half who is gonna stride out of the back 4/5 carrying the ball but from the times i've seen him he's not inadequate or a liability.
Will suit us fine. Frankly if we are fannying about with the ball much between the gk and defence i'd be surprised.
Isn’t the best on the ball and can be prone to a clumsy moment, but he’s a man mountain and a great box defender / aerial presence.
Can cover Dara at RCB in a back four, can also play in the middle of a three if we change system.
Feels like a pretty solid pickup at a reasonable price (£8 million ish)
He's a significantly better defender than O'Shea and better on the ball too- he isn't coming here to play second fiddle- I expect Dara to move to right back or right centre back of a three, with Diop in the middle.

This idea that he's no good on the ball is very harsh- I've seen him play a number of times for Fulham, and Morocco in the World Cup and he's not some kind of club-footed physical freak who can only use his head and relies on physicality- he's a very decent footballer with the ball at his feat too.

Indeed, you don't come through the French footballing system from a young age to not be able to kick a ball.

If we're going to play a back 5, I think we need more attacking players on each side, which might point to Johnson and Davis, with Greaves and Kipre fighting it out for LCB.
It was a joke. ....
Actually think one of the reasons we have kept Burns is to have the option of playng him on the right of a back 5 with Davis on the otherside.
