See a lot of pundits predicting us to to do poorly, which, whilst I disagree with, you can see the logic. A safe bet we'll be down there somewhere.
But the same pundits have Cov doing well, just seen one say 12th!
The reason he gave was Frank Lampard? Have I missed something where he turned onto an excellent manager? |  |

What am I missing? Am I really so deluded by my blue tinted glasses?

Interesting - who predicated 12th. Highly unrealistic IMO. Sunderland were an outlier, that performed well beyond their expected stats. It happens, of course, but not very often.
Yesterday I saw the first pundit that had us 17th, and Coventry 19th. It was the most recent one that I'd seen, and reflected recruitment. |  | | |

Objectively Lampard has had two good seasons out of what, eight as a manager? And both good seasons came when in charge of a team with a lot of resources relative to their level. Even being generous, that doesn't suggest he'll easily keep one of the relegation candidates in the toughest league in the world.
What intrigues me the most is how so many pundits are incapable of an original thought. One of them decides Coventry are staying up "because Lampard" and so many others follow suit. It's an incredibly shallow judgement. Doesn't mean they're not capable, there probably isn't a lot between us and them, but yeah the Ipswich nailed on for relegation but Coventry midtable narrative is daft at best. |  |

The bottom 6 for him are Coventry; Sunderland; Palace; Town; Fulham and Hull.

What Coventry were last season was consistent. They could beat the teams with the (I hate the phrase but...) low block. They only really played 1 decent side last season - us, and we battered them. Nobody next season will play like that against them. | | | |

I hope they’re wrong. It’s going to be hard enough to finish above one established PL team, let alone two. Need Cov and Hull to finish below us plus AN other.
I’m not blown away by their recruitment so far but like Hull, it’s reasonable. Frank Lampard will always get more plaudits as he was a top PL player but his managerial record has its blemishes. |  |

Frank Lampard has done OK as a manager, only really Everton and that second spell at Chelsea that was poor if I recall correctly.
Whether that's enough to justify such predictions I don't know, but ultimately no one truly knows, it's all pints in the dark. | |
