So was the Count at the count, while the other count decided not to bother attending the count?
The Count was at the count but the other count was being a sulking count and refused to be at the count and later claimed that the police advised him not to attend the count - what a completely shameless count.
Apparently a number of Reform grassroots counts attended the count and celebrated the count, much to the amusement of the Count.

Absolutely no fan of the individual concerned, but I seem to remember someone going out in public and attending their party conference a few hours after they were nearly blown to bits by a bomb in their Brighton hotel back in the day.
Which puts not going to a Clacton leisure centre because a bloke with a bin on his head might laugh at me into perspective.
Instead of attending the count, a Reform spokesperson had said that Farage would make a speech at 10.30am.
But he has now cancelled that. The spokesperson didn't give a reason.
I guess that they couldn't say:
"Well, he fell asleep on a sofa at 5am with his tie round his head, halfway through Agadoo, and I thought, bearing in mind how much he had drunk, that it was best for him to pull a sickie."

Labour did exactly the same in Makerfield, just to provide a bit of balance, which I appreciate is often in short supply here.
It's a false equivance though. The MP for Makerfield stood down and the subsequent election was for a new MP entirely. There has been a material change in the electoral status of Makerfield (and the UK as a whole).
Farage 'stood down' so he could be elected again. His stunt has achieved precisely no change in parliament. Clacton has the same MP is had before. It was purely a publicity stunt.

While I wasn’t happy with Labour calling the election- the balance here doesn’t include it being an attempt to avoid parliamentary scrutiny and hold up that process. What Farage has done is flagrant corruption.

if you can't see the difference in the purely selfish farge whose corruption is laid bare and chooses to waste public money on a novelty contest to deflect attention, then i think you're too deeply into the cult to see logic

I m 70. I have voted many times for a candidate in my constituency. I have never seen a ballot paper with candidates to be Prime Minister.

Firstly, mental, you're cross examining a bin. Secondly I genuinely feel that's more scrutiny than the average Farage interview, when he wants on about establishment and man of the people no one seems to bring up the private schools the city banker, the private members clubs, having no other proper job than 'politics' for the last 3 decades.
More scrutiny for a bin than potentially 'the next PM'. Albeit an establishment bin.
