He did do well, tracking back, made some tackles/ interception, looked a lot livelier than he did last season. Midfield competed well, still Matusiwa and Taylor to come back , so I think we can leave Palacios where he is and keep the £30 million in our pockets . |  | | |

His ability to play quickly and accurately was really useful and important today. Didn't overdo anything but looked after the ball very reliably. |  |

Been written off by a few, like Taylor who I could still see being used.
Nunez is a good mix of creativity, running and a bit of niggliness. He doesn't mind a tackle or a scrap, won't be MOTM every week but I'm glad we've got him.
Considering Azor isn't even fit our midfield now looks quite strong. Lukic is the absolute first choice, brilliant. |  |

Yes he was superb playing that deep role. Didn't look out of place at all. |
Said it elsewhere but second half in particular he was great. Stopped Brobbey scoring and then a good clearance a few seconds after that really stuck out. |  |

Overall I thought he had a good game, first half he was a bit safe but a few were. Fatawu for example seem more keen to play the safe pass 1st half, understandable, but GON obviously told him to try a few more runs at the LB, and his pace/ball control scared S'land, they kept dropping a midfielder back. |  | | |

Yes Nunez is no Palcios but he was superb today really composed. I don’t want to say he was better in this league as Sunderland weren’t great but he had a v good game | | | |

I thought he may have had his best game for us tbh. NOt that he did anything spectacular, but I was not hopeful when seeing him as one of the deeper midfielders and really he was OK, solid, good short passes, and no nonsense. I kind of thought at best he's a mascot now because of his puppy energy, ex-norwichness etc, but he has a squad role if he's just not trying to be the centre of attention, which is good. |  |

Nunez is a baller and plays better with better players around him. Popped up all over the place today, and was often in the right place at the right time. Played more minutes in pre-season than any other player, so O’Neil clearly rates him [Post edited 22 Aug 22:14]

Best I've seen him play.
He looked after the ball pretty well as I've always considered him quite loose and has a tendency to give the ball away. Not only did Leif put in a great goal-saving block... so did Nunez.
If he plays within himself and does the simple things more, I think he can be a better player. | | | |
