Scherpen, O'Shea, Davis, Diop, Greaves, Lukic, Palacios, Fatawu, Enciso, Maeda, Abraham
Walton, Ouattara, Humphreys, Furlong, Kipre, Matusiwa, Luis, McAteer, Walle Egeli, Clarke, Emmerson
We're still exposed at full back, centre back and right wing IMO. The defensive situation could be sorted by signing someone akin to Greaves or O'Shea; a centre back who can cover full back if required. The Bakwa link suggests we are still looking to strengthen the right.
As for the Abraham signing - wow. Would be fantastic if we can get it done. |
I think we have to accept as a newly promoted club we are going to be exposed in the odd position, you can't go for players of the quality of Palacios, Enciso etc; and upgrade every position (plus quality backups) at the same time. If we get Palacios and Abraham (or another top striker to share the load with Emersonn) then it's a great window, if in a few months we have an injury or two and end up with Furlong, Kipre, or Egeli having to play a few more minutes than planned then we just accept it, we can always fill a gap or two in January. We are all biased apart from the infiltrating budgies here but good grief this is ridiculous. I'm here thinking kieffer Moore may come back for a swan song and Ashton is after Tammy flipping Abraham. We can be written off all you want but we are putting together a seriously capable team here.
What we are capable of here makes me feel bad for mckenna though. It's so so evident that he achieved so much so fast and as a club it was impossible to be ready for that. We were brutally under equipped last time round and did our damn hardest with the available resources. 2 years on and it's a complete evolution. |
Suspect KMc would have been told what we are after and some of that list drawn up before he left? Maybe from other transfer windows he may not have been convinced it could all be done and the struggles 2 years ago to convince players to sign.

I popped on to see the latest on Palacios and was met with this stunning news.
If these two deals get finalised then OK, we might not push for the top 6 or anything silly like that, but the squad GON & MA have put together really does to be good enough to stay up.
I know teams with even better squads have flirted with relegation (and some have occasionally dropped) but really, this is a seriously, seriously strong squad. |  |

Think people can often get too hung up on the quality of your squad players. You put 1 very good championship player in amongst 10 very good Premier League players and generally they're going to lock in, do their job diligently, get helped by their team mates and have a good, steady game. That's what happened with Nunez at the weekend.
