Next Captain 19:34 - May 11 with 3401 views | Strimmer | Interesting that Andy Warren was extremely confident that the next town captain will be someone 'not yet at the club' on the Kings of Anglia podcast. I've not watched the YouTube version but it *sounded* like a man with a smirk on his face, who knew more than he's giving away. A logical deduction by Andy, or does Cook have someone lined up? Assuming the latter, anyone with deep Cooknowledge know of a past player who might fit that bill?

I’d love him down here, but can’t see him leaving Boro.

Can't see it but would be amazing. Was a regular for Boris before a bad injury.
Next Captain on 20:31 - May 11 with 2606 views | Nthsuffolkblue | I am sure Cook will know. I doubt Warren does but it seems highly likely it will be someone from outside those currently here. No one in the current squad strikes me as a leader in the mould we should be looking for. I wonder whether there is any chance we could get in an experienced head near the end of their career who could provide that leadership. Someone like Mark Noble (although I note he has signed for another year with West Ham).

Next Captain on 20:36 - May 11 with 2525 views | MB26 | I'll die on this hill when these transfer request rumours turn out to be true but I'd give it to Flynn, task him to lead us up and then we will grant his wish to move on. The discipline always gets mentioned with Flynn but he's had 1 red card in the past two seasons (discounting the pre-season friendly against Cambridge). He gets a lot of yellows but no more than a Norwood or Edwards did in 19/20. I'd rather have a captain willing to take a booking to break up an attack than one who isn't willing to tackle. I think it will be Lee Evans if he signs. Morsy potentially if Bannan moves across from Sheff Wednesday as his replacement.

He was ill-disciplined under Lambert when he returned from injury and there had been the transfer speculation and everything. Aside from that he has not shown ill-discipline as far as I can recall. Sometimes needed to temper the aggression but he seems to have done that well more recently. I would say he is probably a good shout for a captain at some stage but I get the feeling Cook is after a more experienced head who he will being in. Evans seems a reasonable shout as he is also someone Cook knows well and is presumably someone he can trust.

According to Wiki joined us in 2009 and wasn't captain until Norris left in 2011. EDIT: However, Wiki also says McAuley was not made captain until the second half of the season he joined us and Naylor left. [Post edited 11 May 2021 21:00]

I can't actually find anyone who joined the club as captain. I don't think Holland did although it wasn't long before he was captain. This would say quite a bit about the lack of leaders in the current squad really.
