I sincerely hope not. Has achieved nothing as manager to believe he would be successful.

League 2 play-off semi final defeat I believe is his biggest managerial achievement.

I love JM, and loved him as player, but this isn’t the job for him.

I'm not fully expecting it but the timing of his appointment and ashton's comment about no-one being lined up suggests a plan to give him a bit of time to prove himself. I hope it works out.

He then gets the January transfer window.

Play offs are not completely out of the question. That's why they acted now...gives an incoming an opportunity of rescuing the season.

I certainly don’t think he’s joined to assist the u23’s long term, that’s for sure.

My hope is that it was a ‘look, come in and cover on an interim basis when we move PC on, and we’ll take it from there’ type agreement, which I imagine it was. I would anticipate he’ll take charge in the short term which will effectively act like a trial period, with a search ongoing concurrently. I don’t really want him, his style is a touch basic, but i guess if he’s made permanent then by definition he must’ve done well as interim, which of course would be good.

Feels a bit of a mess to me. Might as well have given Cook Charlton and Wigan, lined someone up and got them in a week tomorrow in time for the POPR games if that’s the route we’re going down. That would suggest they might see McGreal as having the potential to go perm.

I wonder if he will be deemed a little risky due to him having a tumour removed earlier on this year.

I might be way off but it must be a slight concern even though he's had the all clear.
