That is currently a worrying percentage of people who won't even follow the rules of the least cautious Government on this deadly virus. (Albeit a very small sample size and actually only 2 individuals.)
I think many of us are going way beyond the Government rules as evidenced by many who had tickets for Saturday but chose not to go.

There are currently just 2 posters who voted the way you described.

That's what I said. But based on a very small sample size, that is worrying. If it scales up to be 3 out of 1000 great. However, I suspect it is unlikely.

The crowd was noticeably sparser than a normal league game in the lower North on Saturday. I didn't go to the bar upstairs at half time but was told it was emptier than usual there too. Also much higher proportion of people wearing masks.

Nearly 32% of people have said they won't follow restrictions (although that is clearly going to get much lower) and yet just the other day Vapours took issue with me based on the fact I said "some" won't follow restrictions and would point to the behaviour of the Tory government as one reason not to.

Even if it stays around 25% of the total - couple of points.
This is a self selecting sample. So is in no way a fair representative of the wider population. Why? Because the people who clicked on the link and decided it worthy of giving their vote hold strong opinions. They want their opinions to be known.
In other words those at the extremes (I'm not following any rules or I'm doing absolutely everything in my power to not catch/spread CV) are more likely to vote than those in the middle.
So I won't be worrying about whatever it throws up as I don't think it representative of the wider population.

Tottenham v Liverpool on Sunday had a crowd of 45k. That was defo a sellout so around 25% of fans didn't attend having paid for a ticket.
I think the "lockdown by stealth" written in the press is happening - same with the lack of traffic on Saturday, presume the shops for the last saturday before xmas were not as busy as normal.

I think there are a few issues, which I think impact things, and I possibly should have included a " fudge" option which is this:
- I'm being sensible, I'm limiting most of my social contact, but I will see my family over the festive period, whilst taking as many precautions as I can.
For me, I live a long way from my family, Christmas is that time where I travel and see them. I've scaled back what I do in the run up, all my family are being careful, exactly so that we can have a family christmas. Furthermore, I will be down south on the 27th, an arbitrary lockdown at that point will not send me home, I'll finish my trip.
I purposely made the options a little bit stark, as I thought the discussion might be interesting, but I think there is a lot of "self censorship" of socialising going on, which is going hand in hand with a rejection of "rules" from the government. Essentially the leadership takeaway post " partygate" is "bend the rules to suit yourself", and I think that's what a lot of people will do.

What you say is absolutely correct.
However, the more of those who will loudly and deliberately ignore the restrictions that exist, the worse it is for all of us.
I did not mean to make it sound like the percentages would be representative. However, the individuals expressing the views exist.

I have a similar problem. My elderly mother is not well. She desperately wants to see me (having been quite isolated over the last 20 months) and I want to go to cheer her up a bit, for the good of her health.
If Johnson announces a lockdown/restriction on household mixing while I'm there, that presents a dilemma. I don't want to abandon her after just a couple of days, but I can't afford to be marooned on the other side of the country indefinitely either, I have customers to get back to.

I'll be one of those following the guidance. However, how can this government expect the the public to conform 100% when you look at their own behaviour? Their actions set a precedent. They should be the ones setting the example, like the Queen has done with her Christmas arrangements. Personally, they've lost creditability since Cummings went on his jaunty north, from then on it's given the doubters ammunition.
I will — but, now being triple-jabbed, if we are being locked down or semi-locked down in a fortnight effectively because of people who won't (not can't) get the vaccine I will nonetheless be absolutely seething.

I thought that if you were away when restrictions were announced, you could travel home - not stay in place?
Has anyone ever looked at their own postings for last day or so? Oh my... so sorry. Was Ullaa

That's the dilemma. Do I abandon my mother, with harmful effects on her mental health, or risk getting stuck there for weeks if the restrictions are tightened/extended, meaning I'm unable to run my business (no WFH option).

I feel for you mr. At the risk of getting shot down maybe deservedly, I'd consider going to see your mum and ignoring any new travel rules. Personally, it sounds serious enough for that.

That does make me wonder about the possibility that there are well-meaning reasons for some to at least bend if not break the rules.
The poll is unable to predict exactly what the restrictions are and I understand there may be good reason for some to act in a way that is not 100% in keeping with the letter of them. This is not the same as a blanket disregard for them which is the way I have taken the poll - people intending to completely disregard them.
I think this is missing another option. A lot of people can only see extreme examples these days so god knows what the are imagining for 'anything' to stop the spread. I would hope with another option, something like 'I will follow any short term restrictions advised by the CMO/CSO' that percentage of people who wouldn't follow them would decrease. I also think there's an element of trolling in polls like this where people know it's going to cause reactions from some people.

I find a scenario where lockdown is so tightly enforced that people wouldn't be able to travel home during the biggest migratory week of the year very unlikely. Even with the strictest of previous restrictions, there were plenty of provisions for travelling to / from places of temporary residence, moving homes, and in particular to provide care. I wouldn't worry about being stuck anywhere.

There are no rules yet, so I am going (triple jabbed, tested). It's more what happens if they come in on Boxing Day, for example when I've had not much more than a day to sort her out.

It's late December/early January. If I am forced to sit inside all day with lovely cups of tea and some biscuits watching bootleg episodes of Jeremy Kyle, then damn it I am willing to step up and help my fellow citizens.

Must admit, being childless and working from home really takes the stress out of lockdowns.
