God help them on 12:38 - Jan 7 with 3817 views | hype313 | That seems an odd purchase, I know they were in the PL a few years ago, but you would have thought they have reached their ceiling in the Championship, add in the fact that it is a predominately Rugby League based town, it seems like the returns wouldn't warrant the initial investment. Maybe I'm wrong, we'll see.

I just don't understand what's in it for him. Having spunked c. £5m a year here for so long you would've thought he would be happy to cut his losses and be out of football. Seems to be applying the same strategy of taking over a club on the coat tails of the Championship playoffs, let's hope for their sake he's learned some lessons from his time here.

Indeed. Football karma in association with the banter era means he’ll very soon be in the premier league with them.

Yes, on the face of it it looks like he's a glutton for punishment. But if he gets a decent deal, then he's effectively traded up a division without the hassle of having to get promotion with Town.

God help them on 12:49 - Jan 7 with 3595 views | Plums | This is bizarre. Not for all the obvious reasons but I play in a 'dad rock' band and one of my bandmates is a Derby fan and breathed a sigh of relief when it looked as though they'd dodged Evans. The bass player is a Terrier and now his club look as though they might be blighted by him. I bet the guitarist - who supports Barrow is p***ing himself. [Post edited 7 Jan 2022 20:30]

Isn’t it quite obvious? Huddersfield’s owner doesn’t have the funds to support them. Evans does albeit not to the levels of plenty of other Championship clubs. Evans will see it as a chance to get back in at a decent price.

That could be the case, but the only way he'll get any return from football is by getting a club into the Premier League, and even then it's debatable if you want to stay there. 7 years ago today we were 2nd in the Championship, a point off top with a good manager and a good squad. Had he have got his cheque book out and backed MM in that January then who knows what might've happened. If he was seemingly so unwilling to appropriately fund a club then, and spectacularly since, then I would fear for Huddersfield.

They'd be better off winding the club up. Evans could just give £5m away to charity every year. Much better use of everyone's time and money.

Think he’ll run it differently to how we ended up. He’ll obviously go for Mick at some point!

Based on his decade in charge, all he apparently learnt was 'don't give massive funds to managers, just in case they're Roy Keane'.

Maybe this is Agent Evans doing his best to disrupt a potential rival? Sure that Sky Sports sofa must make Keano's arse ache...

I'm not convinced that him retaining a small stake in the club is a bad thing. Both he and the new owners were clear that he only ever intended to sell the club to someone with the right intentions, and Ed Schwartz's comments about the future sale by GC20 didn't fill me with a massive amount of confidence. Given that it seems to be unanimously accepted that, for all his faults as owner, he legitimately wanted what was best for the club when it came to selling it, I'd be very happy to have him having a say when the time comes for GC20 to sell up.

Nah, his real true love was Lambo. It must have been love, given that he gave him a five year deal for relegating us and then came out swinging for him when he was busy marooning us in the third division with his Lambert Walk football.
