That seems an odd purchase, I know they were in the PL a few years ago, but you would have thought they have reached their ceiling in the Championship, add in the fact that it is a predominately Rugby League based town, it seems like the returns wouldn't warrant the initial investment.

Yes, on the face of it it looks like he's a glutton for punishment. But if he gets a decent deal, then he's effectively traded up a division without the hassle of having to get promotion with Town. |  | | |

Isn’t it quite obvious? Huddersfield’s owner doesn’t have the funds to support them. Evans does albeit not to the levels of plenty of other Championship clubs.

That could be the case, but the only way he'll get any return from football is by getting a club into the Premier League, and even then it's debatable if you want to stay there. 7 years ago today we were 2nd in the Championship, a point off top with a good manager and a good squad. Had he have got his cheque book out and backed MM in that January then who knows what might've happened. If he was seemingly so unwilling to appropriately fund a club then, and spectacularly since, then I would fear for Huddersfield. | |

I'm not convinced that him retaining a small stake in the club is a bad thing. Both he and the new owners were clear that he only ever intended to sell the club to someone with the right intentions, and Ed Schwartz's comments about the future sale by GC20 didn't fill me with a massive amount of confidence.
Given that it seems to be unanimously accepted that, for all his faults as owner, he legitimately wanted what was best for the club when it came to selling it, I'd be very happy to have him having a say when the time comes for GC20 to sell up. | |
