El Miz leaving… 18:59 - May 25 with 3729 viewsibbleobble

What’s the consensus on this? Should he be given more time at the club or is it time to move on? There’s a few on here who are fans of him as am I. Thoughts?

I don’t suppose he really has what it takes to break through and make a positive difference to our team.

Not particularly bothered. If he does go I wish the best for him, but he's not filled me with confidence for the struggle ahead.

Loan him out if we can or keep him as another option.

Got to be worth another season.

I like him, but he's nearly 22. Needs to be playing regular senior football.

Doesn't seem to be rated, time to move on.

Let him go. Really nice goal against Oldham in the FA Cup but apart from that nothing to remember.

Dobra should follow him and leave the club too.

He was appalling against Barrow.

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

I’m a fan of El Miz but there is no denying it hasn’t happened for him. He’s 22 and needs a solid season or 2 at any level, probably not a bit part in L1 promotion chasers. If he goes it could be one we miss out on when he matures but that’s football, potentially wrong place wrong time. If he stays let’s hope he kicks on with game time.

Good luck to the boy but the mere fact that it's Tranmere and Orient looking at him and not a championship club says it all.

22 but less than 40 career appearances.

Would be stupid to give up on him now. We really need to commit to sending him out on loan for a season at minimum of league two level and let him try and get 40 games under his belt.

Truly impaired.

Is this another great opportunity for those who say about every single player who leaves "we might come to regret this", but only ever pipe up when once in a blue moon that turns out to be true, a la Will Keane? But are steely silent about Aaron Drinan, Teddy Bishop, Toto Nsiala, Ellis Harrison when the same prediction doesn't really work out...

Agree with this

Never had a proper opportunity for a long run in the team

A season long loan where he’s a guaranteed starter and assess him then

He's got 2 years left on his contract so may be worth giving him a year out on loan - but reality is what's the point in that regard.

I'd personally keep him about because he is s versatile - can basically play either of the CM roles, the wide forward and even the wing back role he had minutes at in the league. So a very useful squad option and sub

But going to be hard to see him getting enough games to truly develop, and at his age he'll want more than we can probably give him.

Torn on it, can understand whether he goes or stays

I actually quite like him, he's industrious and has fire in his belly, but we're operating in a different space these days and I just think he'll have too much traffic in front of him to cement a place in the first team.

No point keeping for the sake of it, the club is ruthless and won't want to carry 'Maybe's'

Personally i think he's at the same level as Bakinson and its a shame he wasnt given 4 or 5 games towards the end of the season to play that role. Are either of them good enough to play in a team looking to be promoted? Possibly, i don't think you lose a great deal by one of them playing in place of a seemingly injury prone Lee Evans.

Bakinson is streets ahead of El Mizouni.

There's a reason the latter has never managed to get a regular spot in the team, and Bakinson has (and was there for our best spell of the season), and also played in the Championship.

Unfortunately there's always been someone better in front of El Miz, like there probably will be next season.

I like him, but we've now had Lambert, Cook and McKenna determine he's not good enough to start for us at this level, so I think we should let him go. I would look to put a clause in though to allow us to buy him back for a set fee in the future.

Exactly the same goes for Dobra too

All depends on what we're planning over the medium term for our midfielders really.

Are we going to recruit a much better 4th-choice midfielder than El Mizouni? Probably not. Last year all we managed to get for that spot was Tom Carroll, who was both worse and more expensive.

Are any of the other midfielders on our books going to push ahead of him? There's nothing to suggest Rekeem Harper will. So it probably comes down to how we rate Cameron Humphreys and what we see as his pathway to the first team. Is the plan to have him get 15+ appearances this season? If yes, then I think you look to move El Mizouni on. If we don't think he's ready, then it's a no for me.

I think at this point we may as well cash in. A season on loan playing regularly would clearly benefit him but let's assume we go up and then he returns to us, is he really going to be good enough for the championship and realistically is he going to push out one of midfield(and that's not even accounting for the undoubted new acquisitions we would make post promotion)

Shame, but he is one of the victims of our managerial mess we have gotten into over the last few years.

He'll do Liam Trotter and have a perfectly good solid career at a club we feel should be below us.

I like him too . Is Bakinson any better ? I’d say no , just that he’s been given a run of games where as El Miz hasn’t . I’d like us to keep him .

I like him, think he’s a good player.

But at 22 and seemingly not making a dent on the first team yet (along with Dobra), could see both now moving on.

Never made the grade in League One, same with Dobra, so we should move them both on.
