If we fail to go up this season on 17:20 - Jan 21 with 4457 views | RegencyBlue | I would say yes given the backing he has received from Gamechanger. If we didn’t go up next season or started really badly however I suspect not!
If we fail to go up this season on 17:23 - Jan 21 with 4384 views | J2BLUE | Where do we go if not? I think he has to be. I think we have to admit though, it would be failure to not get this squad up. Depends if lessons are learnt. There's a long way to go. If we thought the Plymouth game was big, the Sheff Wed game is going to be much bigger.

If we fail to go up this season on 17:23 - Jan 21 with 4377 views | TrumptonBlue | I hope so, and would think so. The appointment of a rookie manager suggested to me that the owners were buying in to a long-term approach rather than one where the manager is dismissed if objectives are not achieved at the end of his first full season. But who knows, really.
If we fail to go up this season on 17:23 - Jan 21 with 4377 views | Schmoke | He would've had a year and half, with an insane amount of backing for this level, to implement a style of play that's capable of regularly beating f@cking pub teams like Fleetwood, Accrington, Cheltenham, etc. He's now consistently showing that he's incapable of doing that. He should be gone if we don't go up.

Today is possibly the first time we put in a shoddy performance and looked poor. Yet, we still created enough goal scoring opportunities to win that game even with gifting Oxford two goals. We're off at the moment but I've seen enough of us play under KM to give him a lot more time.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but I don't think backing from Gamechanger will change much. Most managers at this level, if not all beyond Moore, would snatch your arm off to have this squad at their disposal.

Depends if he doesn't turn it around. Where fair or not, there is a lot of pressure on the Morecambe game. Fail to win that...

If we fail to go up this season on 17:38 - Jan 21 with 4108 views | OldFart71 | Bring back Mick McCarthy. NOT. Maybe just maybe a little bit more of the muck and bullets suits this League rather than a group of players more akin to the Championship/Premier league. I do think we need an out and out winger to feed the balls in for Hirst and Broadhead. The new guys will need a game or two to bed in and maybe McKenna is swopping and changing too much. Why we start so slowly and can't get going baffles me. It's like they don't train together and just meet up on a match day. Which obviously they don't. But McKenna needs to find a solution to this situation of missing chance and letting in cheap goals otherwise we are in for another season in this league which I am not sure I could stand.
If we fail to go up this season on 18:10 - Jan 21 with 3909 views | Plums | Of course he will and he should be. He's doing his managerial learning right in front of us. New situations and scenarios every week. That's what we and Gamechanger signed up to when he joined us. We need patience and he needs time.

The pub teams that are Accrington, Fleetwood and Cheltenham deservedly take points off us. That puts them on their day as an equal to us. There’s one thing that really annoys me, and that the opinion amongst many is this is a god awful league, we are HMS Pisstheleague and should be long gone from it. Well we’re not. We’re in a real battle now to turn things around before the gap to Second is irretrievable. We’ve only ourselves to blame at the moment and it’s got nothing to do with the so called lesser sides.
If we fail to go up this season on 18:17 - Jan 21 with 3764 views | RobTheMonk | Unless we have a cataclysmic drop in form and fail to make playoffs, then I think he'll still be here. Playoffs is progress over last season.

Fleetwood and Cheltenham did not deservedly take points off us. As an answer to the OP, it depends how we fail to go up, I think.

We're both making the same point in slightly different ways. Because of his inability to deal with 'lesser sides' and also his inability to make us better in both boxes as well as his inability to get us to see games out. It all adds up to it not him not quite being good enough. It's not a coincidence any more.

So we get rid of him and he figures it out, some other club benefits from the time we gave him to develop? How many times do you want us to rinse and repeat the mistakes of the past? He's a young, developing manager at a big club in a tough division (despite the arrogant 'pub team' nonsense). I sincerely hope the strategists in charge see the big picture and give him the time he needs. [Post edited 21 Jan 2023 18:24]

I don't think we've ever sacked anyone in the past who has then gone on to bigger and better things? In reply to the OP this is if he fails to take us up this season. The reason for us not going up would, in large part, be due to us failing to capitalise on us absolutely dominating lesser teams ( and bigger teams) and somehow finding a way to not win it, time and time again. If he learns from this then we will go up. His 13 months in charge so far suggests he isn't close to working it out as it occurs on a very regular, near weekly, basis. Having said that we're now very good at attacking set plays ( compared to last season) and so this indicates he is capable of solving problems. Just not this one... Yet hopefully.
If we fail to go up this season on 18:36 - Jan 21 with 3554 views | patrickswell | Yes, he will be, unless a big offer comes along. He's still learning and he's building a squad in this window and through the summer just gone.

If we fail to go up this season on 18:48 - Jan 21 with 3394 views | SlippinJimmyJuan | I don't think he gets sacked unless we finish outside of the play-offs. That would obviously put him under pressure to hit the ground running next season. However, I believe the rationale would be that he is an excellent young manager who will learn from the mistakes he has made over the course of a season and a half. I think we would be mad to get rid barring some kind of complete capitulation, which as frustrating as the last couple of months has been, is not something I see on the horizon. Naivety may cost us this season, but the experience will strengthen him next time.

Is it though? Pick a team practice a formation defend properly take your chances. We need this guy for this game that guy for that game. McK has worked a long time already he’s not a novice and he’s built a very expensive team that makes the same mistakes again and again. Not so long ago people were saying it was luck. Maybe the good runs were the luck? Maybe now we’re reverting to the mean. Or maybe he could be anyone else you like to mention but things would still be the same. The heart of the club or rather the lack of it is always there regardless. I dunno. It’s all so predictable or feels like it. We’ll scrape the play offs and lose the semis, that’s what everyone seems to be expecting now.
