Town XI of transfer sagas that social media would have loved down the years 11:33 - Jul 9 with 2745 viewsAsa

Let's get Ian Crook into a midfield with Hassan Kachloul and Claus Jensen to kick us off.

I guess Kevin Phillips would have been a tasty social media if it had been around in the day.

Ross McCormack as his strike partner? Or is Charlie Austin making the team?

Who else have we signed or failed to sign where we'd have been tearing our hair out had social media been around to keep us up to date with it all?

Much as I love Cooper, Jennings would have helped us win more trophies than we did under SBR.

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

I'm not convinced by that argument. Cooper was player of the year in 1980-81 despite many other players having a storming season and I don't remember us dropping many points because of his capabilities, it was more the injuries that did us. Indeed he saved quite a few points with his penalty saves.

Kevin Phillips
Shaka Hislop

Weren't we linked with Hoolahan before he went to scum? And I swear Andy Carroll was mentioned a few times before he broke through too.

Carroll's a weird one, he seemed to just subside into non existence after being all over the place.

No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.

Too recent for the spirit of this thread, but a shout out to Michael Jacobs - all agreed and set to sign, before Ipswich pulled out and signed Kyle Edwards instead. Not often you hear about the club changing their mind at that stage rather than the players.

Really?
Shilton always had incredibly high wage demands, probably to fund his gambling habit, so I doubt Town would have been serious about signing him, let alone the £250,000 transfer fee.

I asked him about it on Life's a Pitch once and he said he'd already gone too far down the line on the Forest move when Town came in for him.
