Yeah, at 1-1 I was getting more and more pissed off with each punt up the pitch.

Tbf Spain’s press was very efficient, I’m not sure Pickford always had much choice.

His decision making and kicking is L1 level. Good shot stopper though. There’s a lesson in their about the type of keeper we need to replace Hladky.

On the balance of play on 22:13 - Jul 14 with 1516 views | Europablue | That was a very even game. They looked dangerous but didn't have many clear openings. They were the best team of the tournament and they came up with the goal right at the right time and then conned the referee who for some reason just blew up after 4 minutes when another 3 minutes had been wasted in added time.

As long as I can have a quick Benson's after the first 2 minutes, I should be able to go a little longer

My 5 year old asked me, "why does Pickford keep kicking it up the pitch all the time?!". Pickford has been excellent for England, but he's a relic of the past now. I'd think about moving Pickford and Kane on, or at least diminishing their roles if they can't play the way we need to play.

The problem isn't with Pickford it's the tactics and strategy that results in that

Ha, maybe! I hope we pick his replacement wisely. A footballing keeper is so important to the way we play.

I can’t agree with that. The game was played mostly in our half. Spain played modern front foot football. Our disjointed rabble played McCarthy style Stone Age. 34% possession. Spain more than deserved their win. Either the likes of Saka, Bellingham and Foden are overrated and are really PL level ‘journeymen’ propped up by better foreign players or they are set up badly in a way that they’re not used to with their clubs.
On the balance of play on 22:37 - Jul 14 with 1338 views | Chrisd | Without a doubt, only one side was trying to win that second half. Even Palmer’s goal took a slight deflection which took the ball away from Simon’s dive and he wasn’t far away from it. Spain fully deserved that win IMO, they played the best football throughout, 7 wins from 7 games says it all. Look at their pathway to the final, beat the host nation Germany and France. Far tougher than our journey.

We’ll differ on how we view Southgate as I th8nk he’s done so much to change atmosphere around the mens squad and team. That needed to be done. But think you’re right about getting someone to get us playing on the front foot, akin to what the players are used to week in week out.

WTF. We were totally outclassed. Spain a million miles better than us and on another day may have won that game by 3 or 4 goals. By far the best team won the tournament which is quite refreshing. England have good players but still a way off consistently beating top 10 nationsnand something we find almost impossible to do in knock out football. [Post edited 14 Jul 2024 22:48]
