Little old Bournemouth 08:11 - Dec 6 with 4224 views | Asa | Have spoken to a few people about the weekend fixture and the consensus seems to be that they are a team we have to beat. Why? 8th in the table. Above Brentford, Man Utd, West Ham, Everton, Leicester, Palace and Southampton - sides where we've taken a total of 3 points from 21. Going to be a very, very tough game again. But Brentford, Brighton and now Fulham and Bournemouth continue to yet again serve to remind us that if we can stay up or even bounce back at the first attempt, that it's still very very possible to become a very established Premier League team knocking at the European door. On paper looks a much, much harder game than Palace but there's definitely an element of underestimating them from the fan base at least because of the stature of their club.

They had 21 shots in this match, their most in any game this season.' This under the headline 'Bournemouth too strong for Spurs', there again Bournemouth had a home victory and ours over Tottenham was an away win. Never say never.

Little old Bournemouth on 09:04 - Dec 6 with 3217 views | Reuser_is_God | You’re right. However what I would say is that Bournemouth play a more attacking style & are less physical than some of those teams we’ve not really laid a glove on so I think the game generally will suit us more.

Little old Bournemouth on 09:15 - Dec 6 with 3150 views | _clive_baker_ | I don't know of anyone underestimating them. I think there's a general acceptance that every team in this division is strong and every game is hard. The point is probably that we have 19 home games this season, 12 left, and if we're going to get the 8/9 wins that gives us a fighting chance then you would think most will have to come at PR. And while Bournemouth are very good, they're probably less good than the likes of Arsenal, Man City and Chelsea. Nobody is saying these are easy games.

Little old Bournemouth on 09:19 - Dec 6 with 3110 views | Daninthecampo | I agree but I also think after Sunday we only have 11 home games so whilst it's not a must win game if would be very good to get one as there's much harder home games we're going to face. Our survival is going to be heavily reliant on our home results

Yep. We probably are getting towards 'have to beat' territory in some of these games, especially at home to sides outside the top 6. That's very different to expecting to beat or making us in any way favourites though. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Yes and after the next 2 come games against Newcastle, Arsenal and Chelsea, so not really a surprise people are looking at this one as one of the most winnable, at a time when we really need a win. Not rocket science really Have given the OP his uppie though

Little old Bournemouth on 09:27 - Dec 6 with 3026 views | Bluedandy | On paper Tottenham away was much harder than Palace ... and Leicester beat Bournemouth at home so why can't we? We could easily have beaten Man United, Fulham, Leicester or Villa at home, at some point we will edge a home game when we play well. So why not Bournemouth ... of course they could spank us, that's the nature of this league. No one is under estimating Bournemouth, they've got some very good players but they might have a collective off day, it happens. Their finishing is woeful by the way, judging by last night's performance. And let's be clear, just like Brentford they are a genuinely mickey mouse club pumped way beyond their true size by the financial steroids of Premier League TV money. [Post edited 6 Dec 2024 9:27]

We're playing a combined Arsenal and Chelsea team after Newcastle ?

Little old Bournemouth on 10:01 - Dec 6 with 2738 views | Vaughan8 | I can't believe anyone is underestimating them, especially if you've watched them play. Beat Arsenal, Man City and SPurs at home. Probably should have beaten Chelsea too. However, away from home they aren't quite as good understandably. We've had 2 more days rest. Despite them being pretty good, this is a game we can win. You'll only stay up if you are good at home. We haven't won at home yet.

Little old Bournemouth on 10:22 - Dec 6 with 2594 views | Facefacts | They must've got the timing right with PL money, one relegation was it?, now easily surviving in the PL on 10,000 crowds. So just the TV money makes them unassailable. I see this as a Man Utd type game with their pace on the break, but without the being 'up for it' atmosphere of Man Utd in the stadium. Very difficult. How we scape a win out of this I do not know. Try to grab a goal early and get the crowd going.

Yes, they can be beaten, less physical and have poor finishing but if we don't improve our attacking game and be more clinical we won't win any. 0.49 xG at home won't win you any games, and our xG has been below 1 for many of our home games this season. That is relegation form.
Little old Bournemouth on 10:27 - Dec 6 with 2549 views | LA_Tractor_Boy | Not underestimating them, but IMO we simply have to win 2 of our next 3 matches to stand a chance of avoiding relegation. After that, we're not going to get much from Arsenal, Chelsea, Fulham, Brighton, Man City and Liverpool.
Little old Bournemouth on 10:29 - Dec 6 with 2545 views | GavTWTD | Before their game last night they were only 5 places above us (but quite a few points) but I did regard them as a possible team we could finish above, but no, they really aren't. It'll be a massive achievement to finish out of the bottom three and I'm struggling to think who would finish below us.

Little old Bournemouth on 10:39 - Dec 6 with 2491 views | muhrensleftfoot | We are in December and haven't won a game at home. Even knowing life would be very tough in the Premier league, I didn't expect us not to have won a single home game by now. Bournemouth are a good side, but it's getting to the stage where we must start winning games, otherwise the inevitable conclusion will be relegation.

'And let's be clear, just like Brentford they are a genuinely mickey mouse club pumped way beyond their true size by the financial steroids of Premier League TV money' So. so true. Perhaps my most despised club, Bournemouth.
Little old Bournemouth on 12:34 - Dec 6 with 2094 views | ringwoodblue | They are inconsistent but they gave enough quality to beat us so I’m only expecting a draw at best. Based on the last two years, the team finishing in 17th had 8 or 9 wins. Where do we honestly see those other 7/8 wins coming from if we can’t beat the likes of Palace and Bmth at home. I’m very concerned but trying to stay optimistic which is where I think most of us are at right now.
