You would, but Sunderland squad were pictured strolling round past the Wolsey the other Saturday! Does seem low brow compared to Stoke By Nayland golf club which was a favourite in the past. But it is close to the ground! Maybe the Travel lodge next to the ground was full! My mates ‘Kenny Dalglish boots’ story took place at the Belstead Brook Hotel, which is out of favour these days. My first ever weekend job was there, and in the 2000s and away teams (plus refs, new signings etc) stayed there then.
The Croatian National Team stayed there when they played at Portman Road. The England team tried to book it, but wanted the whole hotel and IIRC there was already a coach party booked in or something so they went elsewhere.
Several dull andeocts about my time working there, but one stands out is Reading keeper Marcus Hahnemann made a formal complaint about me. He is the only customer who ever said "do you know who I am?" and didn't particuarly like my response. |  | | |

I believe that Premier clubs generally book out the entire hotel. Some of them, if not most, take their own catering teams too. |  |

A friends sister in law is assistant manager there, 14 of the 22 clubs have already booked to stay, they can take over the whole place, bring own equipment, bikes, their own chefs etc. |  |
