It's a really really strange situation, since we came back from the COVID lay off he has been in hibernation.

I assume he's concentrating on.... on 14:10 - Feb 5 with 2576 views | Bloots | ....coaching the players, making them better at their job. He must be working out tactics, looking at a plan A, plan B and plan C for the match tomorrow. Probably analysing the opposition looking at their strengths and weaknesses, putting a dossier together about how we can counteract and exploit them. Then he'll be having individual meetings with each player laying out their individual roles and responsibilities, followed up by specific meetings for the defence, midfield and attack and ending with a full team meeting to boost morale and get them raring to go tomorrow. It's either all that or he's sitting at home knocking one out watching videos of Dortmund and Celtic. You decide.

I wonder if any playing or coaching staff have been prominent posters on here over the years? Pre internet I used to give Micky Stockwell copies of Dribble which by all accounts were shared around the team bus with gusto.

How are you coping in the lockdown? Looks like April or May until pups open (that is obviously a complete personal guess) You guys have had it worse than most - especially as you work on low margins anyway. Are the pubcos picking up the rent bills?

Luckily we’re not tied to a pub co, freehold owned by a couple who have been very kind with the rent. We’re fine and I’m imagining a bumper year if we can be open from April. It’s set us back a good deal, the furlough still costs us - about £2k month for the PAYE etc and the VAT reduction on food to 5% is no use on minimal sales. The grants have helped. I’m hoping Sunak continues the VAT reduction and business rates will hopefully go for good. Can’t see him going after the likes of Amazon/ Supermakets etc, who are having a field day - but he should. How are you doing?

Well I feel slightly guilty as I know that a lot of people are having a real bad time but we have been fortunate and have had an amazing year - although my life is dotted with ups and downs so I await the next disaster. 85% of our sales are wholesale and 15% retail. Out of the wholesale side 50% of that are customers who list products on Amazon and they went completely nuts as soon as the first lockdown happened. It seemed that people were so bored that they were just buying things that they didn't need. We sold a years worth of some products in a month. One of said Amazon customers was a fairly new set up but he has zoomed, he was working from his home with a lock up and now he has a warehouse which he has outgrown in a few months. In the summer he was telling me how many garden toys he was selling and it was absolutely mind boggling. I think the pandemic has made a lot of money for some people but is crippling others. I genuinely feel for the pubs and restaurants, probably because I like going to these places and have a connection with the people whereas other businesses are sort of off my radar. I have a friend who does big firework displays and everything was cancelled last year, probably cost him £1m I don't think we will know how much businesses will / have suffered until we are opened up again but I am not as fearful as some. The High Street is dead but it was already on life support. Business rates are an interesting thing. The rates charge is the overlooked bill that often makes the difference between success and failure. To be fair to supermarkets they offer a good service, Amazon offer a brilliant service but I agree that they are a problem. I would suggest a 5% tax on all goods bought online. The likes of Amazon though have a way of getting round things and their operations that cover UK are based in Ireland and Luxembourg where I believe they have arranged certain tax "Deals" Anyhoo, glad you are keeping your head above water, remind me where your pub is again, I am thinking of getting about a bit more seeing customers after all this is over and I'd love to pop in for a pint.
