A bunch on here that are reveling in English bashing, aren't we scum, what has this nation become blah blah blah...

Like ALL countries we have a minority problem who are knuckle head, racist, idiotic scum.

But for christ sake, it's a MINORITY, the majority of this country are decent people who contrary to belief act properly and take responsibility for their actions.

Seriously I'm surprised some of you on here don't become MPs, or church leaders as clearly you are people we should all look up to.

I suspect to get knocked for this, but surely there are people who like me are sick to death of the holier than though attitude that seems to prevail on here.

If it was an Eastern European country we'd be tutting and shaking our heads, saying how bad it is out there and obviously they haven't embraced the changes from hoolganism which generally took place through the late 20th and 21st centuries.

Yes, they may be a (pretty sizeable) minority but they should still be called out, named, shamed and banned from any football activity for life. It's time these people are shown the disrespect and contempt they deserve.

If you are aware that it is a minority, why do you have an issue with people confronting them?

"Like ALL countries we have a minority problem who are knuckle head, racist, idiotic scum."

If you don't let them know they're a minority they keep on doing it.

Do you let them know that you object? or just stand by and watch?

You know the worst bit? I should be proud to be English, we have an incredible heritage, but atually I feel embarrased much of the time due to these knuckle heads.

They might be a minority, but we never, ever address them and they are always there.

What exactly about 'perhaps there should be less racism' and 'it would nice if people could act like grown ups at a football match' upsets you?

It is a minority yes. That doesn’t mean they shouldn’t get called out for it.

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

Yes, the majority are decent people but being decent shouldn't need highlighting. There was serious disorder at Wembley yesterday and racist abuse of young England players, online. We have to talk about this stuff because brushing it under the carpet is, in a way, accepting it.

This.

Will we see full page condemnations of the abuse aimed at Rashford, Saka, Stirling and others in The Sun, The Mail, The Express and co, which *might* have some effect?

No, they'll be too busy whipping the knuckleheads up about 'immagrunts' crossing or Spanish trawlers taking their Friday night haddock.

Here's the solution to your concerns about 'English bashing' - don't act like cataclysmic nuclear dickheads when you get to the final of a tournament.

Handle your drink, respect other people, don't attack the players who you've spent a month cheering on.

I'm proud to support the team, but I'm disgraced to be associated with morons who think it's alright to trash the streets, trample over other humans to get into a football ground without a ticket, spew bile over the Internet, and the idiots that defend them as a minority.

It's so easy not to be an absolute dickhead, why defend those who embarrass the rest of us?

…. And this blinkered cr@p that this is a minority

There are A LOT of people who backed booing the team

That was A LOT of people getting hammered and aggressive across the country last night

AND we currently have the most divisive and poisonous cabinet in living memory voted in by the majority

I’ll leave it to Mr Neville:

I've put something similar on twitter.

What winds me up is when the words "we" and "English disease" are used.

I believe that England is one of the most accepting, tolerant countries in the world. It will never be perfect, nowhere is. Humans have a long history of not doing as they should.

Sadly, the small minority will continue to act in this way. All the teaching, all the plans, all the measures will NEVER stop it, quite simply because they are moronic & don't want to stop. They believe its their given right to act like this.

Not for one minute do I support these people or condone it, but the attitude on here is off the bloody scale.

Some of you must be almost saintly.

If not beating people up, singing songs about past wars, unable to get drunk without smashing things up or booing other countries anthems then yeah, I am a saint.

I’m sure most on here are proud to be English but that doesn’t mean that we can’t call out vile behaviour when it occurs.

Not my point at all. That behaviour is abhorrent but as I said the righteous attitude of some on here is over the top.

It's interesting that my initial post has 9 up votes and 9 down. More downs from the more shall we say "vocal" on here

Well I have lived in Norway for 15 years and have never seen people behave in that manner. It's not everywhere.

It's not really saying a lot positive about you if you think an inherent part of being English is open bigotry and acting like an utter c0ck after a sniff of the barmaid's apron.

Can't say I've ever seen Danes behaving like that either, to be honest. They love a good drink but generally know how to behave, in my experience.
