Kenlock new team? 10:56 - Jul 19 with 4552 views | kizaitfc | Very surprised he hasn't found a new club, left backs are generally one of the most sought after players. Not saying he is the best player but with championship experience I would have thought a couple of League 1 clubs would have looked at him even if it were just as a backup. Has there been any links with him? Is he going to end up a Col U maybe?

Kenlock new team? on 11:35 - Jul 19 with 3008 views | gordon | Worth saying as well that in terms of appearances at Championship standard, he's ahead of Coulson and Penney (I appreciate this doesn't make him a better player), so should be a reasonably attractive prospect at this level for a decent League One team.
Kenlock new team? on 11:38 - Jul 19 with 2981 views | hoppy | I saw him in Sainsburys Upper Brook Street last Thursday lunchtime, if that helps at all. He was wearing his mask just above his mouth, so unfortunately he hadn't mastered wearing it completely properly, but at least better than those that think they're most likely to transmit any virus through their chins.

He currently doesn't have a "permanent slot" (assuming that means first choice in the first team) here, does he? I would imagine his biggest concern will be finding the deal that gives him the best income. Like the OP, I would imagine there are League 1 clubs that would happily take him and he would do a good job. However, can they pay his current wage for that? If they are paying no better, how is it in his interest to move? Alternatively, Championship clubs should be able to improve on his wage but are there any that would see him add something to their squad?

This. Several managers have decided he isn't good enough and he couldn't hold down a place in what was potentially our worst ever team last season. L2 is probably his level

Didn't you stop him and ask him what's going on. who he's had contact with and what his options are you must be about the only 'random stranger' a player had told all to

Kenlock new team? on 14:00 - Jul 19 with 2442 views | franz_tyson | Never feel any real desire from Kenlock to push on. Seems content to just stick here as backup. He should have gone out on loan by now. I think it’s right for Cook to make him available and push him out of his comfort zone else his career will fizzle out. Hope he does well wherever he ends up but not sure he’s got what it takes to have a long career.

I can see him dropping out of football completely once his contract is up. From folk who loosely know him, there is no real ambition, he is almost a reluctant footballer. Can see him playing non-League football back in London.

Isn’t it like the same with Jackson. Sit here unwanted for a year and let your career go to waste or take a lesser salary on a 2 year contract where you could reignite your career? If he wants to continue playing - then sod the money and drop down to L2 and become a regular starter. Kenlock needs regular first team football and I’m not sure he’ll get that in this division.

I know we're all convinced these are the worst players in the world, but at 24 Myles has 100+ senior appearances all for a League One club. It's beyond ridiculous to suggest it would be "surprising" for him to find a league club. [Post edited 19 Jul 2021 14:24]

Why interact with someone when you can covertly follow them to the cheese counter and see if they buy stilton or cheddar? C'mon hoppy, spill the beans (sorry, that's Holy at the canned vegetables shelves...)

indeed. He really isn't that great. Tries hard and athletic but fairly limited as professional footballer. Champ was defnitely above his standard, may get an L1 club but L2 more likely his standard.

Not sure why Jackson gets the blame for us choosing to activate his contract extension? There's at least 5 to 10 teams in League One who'd give consideration to Kenlock as a first team regular. He's a good age and three quarters of the league were worse than us defensively last year. Plus he got a respectable assist return (3 from 17 starts).

It depends how that 2-year contract compares with the guaranteed year here plus a probable one the following year elsewhere. As stated above, why did we renew Jackson's deal? Seems a little like we were confident the bidders from January would still be keen but are they? We might have simply ended up having to pay a player who is surplus to requirements. Hopefully not. Hopefully it is a sensible move that will bring in a fee in excess of the extra wages we are going to be paying him in the meantime.

Evidence to hand suggests mid-table League 1 is his level? Unless we're arguing that he was conspicuously worse than the rest of our squad last season and our results with him in the side suggest otherwise. [Post edited 19 Jul 2021 15:02]

His current salary would actually be quite high for most other likely L1 & L2 destinations to be considering. He would need to be a guaranteed starter for them. I can see why he is sitting on his contract. Especially if what others have said about his overall levels of ambition are true. He probably reckons that even if he does nothing for a year then he can still get a gig next year with someone with 100+ games for Ipsos on his CV. Not saying he wont leave......but I can see why he is in no rush.

Kenlock isn’t the greatest full-back in ITFC history but he certainly isn’t the worst. Think people have forgotten that when he came back into the team after a time out he looked like quite a good attacking left-back (at this level). Maybe he simply needs a fresh start somewhere.

Time will tell I guess. He seems in pretty good knick, fit and able to stay injury free. Just not convinced he’s got many attributes that would make a league club take much notice of him.

He was a perfectly adequate left back in a mid-table League One team last season. Actually, our record with him starting was a bit better than that even, 9 wins/5 draws/3 defeats, which is more or less promotion form. What a footballer is good at is very subjective, so I'm not sure it's worthwhile trying to persuade you on that front. But, just objectively, surely you can see that players of Kenlock's profile (24, fair few league appearances, good injury record, putting in reasonably competent performances last season), don't usually end up in non-league? There are 39 league clubs with teams who were worse than the one Kenlock formed a part of, after all. You don't actually have to rate Kenlock very highly for the above to be true. Just have a sense of reality about footballers and their careers! Other than semi-retirements, how many players have been ended up playing non-league the season after starting 15 games for Ipswich Town? If it's more than zero I'd be surprised.
