I'm not even sure that will save them, he was very poor last season by his standards. He signed that big fat contract after a protracted saga and hasn't looked the same player since. Could be the complacency of knowing that he'll get another massive bonus regardless of how badly he performs, or just the fact he's getting older and can't play the way he used to. |  |

The decline has been gradual - even last season, from January on they were on top-4 form, but had too much to do. It feels like they are now a Wenger-lite team, built on possession and clever interplay, but missing enough goals upfront, and apt to concede just too many to succeed.
