It's the residue of the weak sauce mentality that was allowed to fester here at ITFC under the Evans regime. I mean, we're only Ipswich Town. What right do we have to finish above the likes of the mighty MK Dons, Plymouth and Wycombe?

Who thinks that? People are optimistic. No one had booked next year's promotion celebration. We're likely to have quite a lot of competition but why shouldn't we be confident? Good manager, basis of a very good team and likely to spend again on key areas.

Hello 11th Place! Oh but it’s a sh!t league?! How can this have happened (n/t on 18:03 - Apr 18 with 2106 views | HARRY10 | The harsh reality is that it is easier to survive in the Championship that it is to get out of L1. I don't doubt if we had (by luck) found ourselves in the Championship this season, we would be there for the coming season. We have to be better than 23 others in L1, rather than better than 3 in the Championship. Unfortunately when Wham we being appointed last season, Wigan got George Michael, we got Andrew Ridgeley.

Hello 11th Place! Oh but it’s a sh!t league?! How can this have happened (n/t on 18:11 - Apr 18 with 2064 views | OldFart71 | At the end of the day it won't be the players , or a least quite a few of them, who look back on another season in this dire division. I suspect a few, maybe those who have an inkling they won't be around next season are already on the beach. It will sadly be the supporters who have and will blindly follow a lot of overpaid prima donna's . Due to the backup of Gamechanger and the thousands of fans who have followed Town home and away they are all paid very handsomely. One who couldn't hit a barn door from 6 yards. So another season slips by. Full of hope and expectation, just as next will start. Will we be any better ? I hope so, but lots will depend on the type of player McKenna brings in. Players like Aluko and Celina would be great in a higher league. But this is a "muck and bullets" league where 80% of the teams and their managers have the same philosophy as McCarthy had where he'd take a point before a ball was kicked. We need to counter this by bringing in players that will make the team more robust.

How can this have happened (n/t on 18:21 - Apr 18 with 1991 views | Ftnfwest | I keep watching championship games like this current one at Bristol and the attendances at a lot of them are appalling. Lots of half empty stadiums or worse. You seem to have fulham, a few decent sides and a lot of mediocre ones. Certainly hasn’t improved since we left and isn’t some sort of promised land. That’s not a wish to stay where we are but one to be patient if anything.

I never know what this "divine right" thing is supposed to mean. I think "par" for a football club is a league finish roughly in line with your budget and below that you're looking greater or lesser degrees of incompetence. In this division "par" for Ipswich Town is Top 2 or thereabouts. Is that me believing we have a "divine right"?

Which conveniently overlooks what happens in reality. If crowd size and supposed finance were the sole determinant, we would not have Sunderland and Weds down here with us. B'mouth would not be 2nd, while Forest and Derby are where they are. They are so many other variables that have to be factored in - in our case a shyster who ran us into the ground. Sadly we may have landed ourselves with another 'short term Sidneys', who will bail out if it doesn't happen overnight.

Indeed - chalk this, largely wasted, season down to a mix of a coach who was out of his depth without his assistant and a squad of players that are happy to talk about how good they are, but not interested in fighting to prove it by winning games.

Not being able to achieve an average of at least 2 ppg with this squad is ridiculous. There is a lot of work to do because, other than a run when McKenna first came in, we're less than the sum of our parts.
