I had the pleasure of TalkTV at the barber's earlier. They actually made the point that had someone said the same about a white man, no one would be decrying it as racist nor misogynistic. Remarkable.
They further added that the left (they frequently used this generalisation throughout) are all geared up with people in prominent places to make these complaints as soon as they have the chance to. No one (they said) ever complained about the same abuse that Farage or Johnson suffered. The milkshake incident that everyone laughs about could have been far nastier ... it might easily have been battery acid instead (they didn't complain as they had already stated that nobody complains about it).
Where is the 'obnoxious pr1ck' option? I am no fan of any form of royalty but this episode is consistent with Clarkson's arrogant belief that he has something of value to offer in anything he says.

Farage isn’t the only politician to be ‘attacked’ by food stuff. Loads have been egged - doesn’t make it right at all but it’s a bit daft for that caller to single him out like that.
What a lot of the free speech advocates seem to forget is that they can say what they want but there have always been repercussions - freedom of speech doesn’t mean freedom of consequence. If Clarkson had attacked Kate instead of Meghan, I wonder whether the people defending him would still be by his side - I doubt it.
As far as I’m aware, and I could be wrong, he hasn’t actually apologised for his w**k fantasy. Instead he tweeted ‘Oh dear. I’ve rather put my foot in it. In a column I wrote about Meghan, I made a clumsy reference to a scene in Game of Thrones and this has gone down badly with a great many people. I’m horrified to have caused so much hurt and I shall be more careful in future.”
A cowardly initial response from a complete A* prick who no doubt is loving the attention.

Is anyone else utterly baffled by the attention given to Meghan Markle? And I don’t just mean the right wing bashers but also those valiantly defending her honour. People who don’t know her, never met her and never will.
Is Markle just another proxy to enable the constant ‘left v right’ fighting, or is the interest because of our weird obsession with celebrity or just because they’re royals (which is close to our celebrity fixation I suppose). I just don’t get it. What does it matter to anyone how she and Harry chose to lead their lives? Genuinely baffled. Surely people have got more valuable things they could be doing with their time and energy.
(All of the above btw, although I’ve no idea if he’s racist).

Agreed, I’ve no time for Harry, Meghan or Clarkson, but wtf has she done to provoke that kind of drivel? The answer of course is nothing and Clarkson knew that. He knew as soon as he wrote the article that it would get the reaction it has. I don’t think he has any real gripe with Meghan, just with those that will react the strongest.

Sells papers I suppose for the sort of people who need this hatred in their lives. I’m just surprised so many people care enough about them to get worked up either way.

Yes.
I’m sure he will deservedly live to regret these words. However, I can understand his total dislike for the woman. In my opinion she’s a complete fraud.

Would you like to explain why and open up that angle for wider debate? Or are you going to keep it vague but firmly right wing from here on to avoid making a bigger fool of yourself?

my missus is watching that program at the moment, am i right in saying they dont want any fame, and dislike the press, but have opted to do a 6 part show for netflix and be piad about 15million?
ginge and whinge and saw them described as - laughed at that i must say.
(and before anyone goes off on one, i really dont care either way)
It was deliberate to get a reaction and he's got it.
You're not telling me that he didn't expect this? That no one warned him about the raction he would get even if he himself was stupid enough not to see it coming?
I'm not buying it.
He doesn't deserve the attention for writing stuff like that.

I’m no royalist but I do have a lot of sympathy for both of them - attacked and ridiculed continuously so I’m not surprised that they want a right-to-reply.
It might be worth remembering that ‘ginge’ grew up knowing that the tabloids persecuted his mum to death whilst the royal family offered little protection for her. All this under the hypocrisy of the general public. I’m not surprised he’s bitter and does t want history to repeat itself.

I've never met either of them so couldn't possibly comment on what's she's like.
I've not seen much to make me dislike her, nor him for that matter.
I make no secret of my distaste for the Royals as a concept but wish none of them (or their spouses) any harm.
She made a successful career for herself before matey came along though so credit to her for that. I'm sure not all of those born into privilege who may have looked down at her would be able to do the same.

Nonsense.
Jug ears missus courted the media, Phoned the Mail every morni when on a yacht in the Med to tell them when she would appear on deck. Loved her kids so much she had fcked off and left them. Live by the sword etc.
Much as with Mrs Sparkle and ginger tom. He is to stupid to grasp that she has latched onto him to further her own career. You join the royals, you shut your gob and get in with it. Much as pro footballers not reacting to the crowd.
Thanks to the largesse of Ginger Tom she is now a millionairess, so if you don't like it take the money and run.... back to the US with G T.
Clarkson is a boorish twt who has made money out of over exciting loads of social inadequates by pretending to be 'jolly naughty'. I suspect he thought that linking something he'd seen on the telly would fit here. He was writing for the Sun, whose readers still follow the wordsacross the page with a finger. Lazy shy te that I doubt he thought twice about after sending it in.
However NO woman should be subject to this type of abuse, and I include such odious types as Braverman, Truss and Badenoch. We have seen where this type of written attack can lead. What we don't see though is the thousands of other cases where women are intimidated, and feeling threatened by cretins reading Clarksons type of mysogyny
What has been noticably is the lack of comment/condemnation from those on the right, especially women. Drink driving, bullying at work and innappropriate behaviour towards woman and teenage girsl is no longer accepatable, because not only have woman took a stand but men have backed that stand
Most woman will understand the implications of Clarksons commenst, and many have spoken out - but it needs those who have a platform to speak out. It may not change Clarkson or his saddo followers, but it will send a signal that theirs is a very minority view and is not welcome in public..

Ah well. At least it debunks the myth that all racists voted for Brexit.
Yes, because the replacement “fact that there is now blood on the hands of all who voted for Brexit” is much more appealing.
I wasn’t with them officer, I just happened to be in the exact same place at the exact same time with very similar motives but that’s where any guilt ends.

I don’t care either way either. But there is deffo something wider at stake than just Royals dramas.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

I just find Meghan and Harry grate on me, by all means do what you want to do, but this constant woe is us narrative is just going on and on.
Leave the family, do Oprah to get your feelings across.....but then that isn't enough so do a Netflix show.....but then that isn't enough so release a book about it. At what point will they have "had their say", bearing in mind that the Palace don't respond to it?
They lead a more privileged life than 99.9999% of people on the planet, but it isn't fair because William and Charles are in the 0.0001% who have an even more privileged life.
The talk about the planting of stories etc int he media, like it hasn't been done forever by them as well as the other side; like Diana wasn't the master of playing that game back in the day as well.......the papers have sided with William because he is the future King and worth more to them....that seems about it really.

What has this hot yo do with the thread?
Nothing it’s from 2020. The article also covers the sacking of another bigot - RLB for sharing an anti semitic conspiracy theory. All irrelevant to the topic.
