I put 10th-15th. Every other club in the division has a head start in terms of recruiting for the Championship in the Championship. We're a newly promoted club and whilst long term, I think Top 8 is par performance on our budget, if next season was a question of transitioning to that sort of status, I'd understand.

I did consider an option of "can we at least just tonk the budgies?" but resisted.
Had a dream the other night that we played them six times next season (twice in the league, once in each cup, twice in the playoffs) and tonked them for an aggregate score of 30-0. Enough morning wood to pitch a circus tent.

60% say "minimum standard" is challenging for the play-offs. Really hope we don't get on the manager/players' backs if it's a bit tougher than that.

It seems that Sunderland have made a lot of fans believe it is easier than it probably will be. Carlton Palmer was on talksport earlier suggesting that Wednesday will gain back-to-back promotions. Top of the bottom half would be fine with me, although I believe we can and probably will do better than that.

I guess there is a difference between "success" and "satisfied with" - I might be satisfied with 18th place but that doesn't mean I'd call it a successful season.
The one match at a time mentality shown since January is perfect for a decent cup run, assuming we avoid any of the biggest clubs. Had we played Burnley towards the end of the season we would, in my opinion, have got a result.
Goes without saying less than 4 points against our local foe would not be satisfactory.

Exactly this.... I think a "successful" season means challenging for promotion somehow... but it won't be the end of the world if we just have a consolidation season, bedding in new signings and getting used to the league....

It might just be the way the two most realistic options fall, 10th - 15th feels a bit meh. I'm more looking at 8th - 12th which bisects both of them.
I think there might be some entitlement next season, lots of fans who've come back on board and mainly only seen us win (plus the usual whoppers on here) but think it'll mainly be realistic.
I've watched a lot of Champ football this season and a lot of it hasn't been that much better than L1 - we matched Burnley this season and duffed up Rotherham.
We certainly have nothing to worry about and I see no reason why we can't compete for promotion, top two a stretch but play-offs certainly achievable based on our current approach and trajectory.
Ade Akinbiyi couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo...
Your use of the word 'success' is key for me. I think we should be aiming for mid table as a minimum, but for me challenging for the playoffs will be a successful season.
That's not due to arrogance or overconfidence, as I'm pretty certain we will see some key signings to strengthen us from our current position, ie I'll be amazed if we don't sign 2 strikers (one possibly Hirst).

‘Fcukin’ ell’ Carlton, can we not knock it’. That’s my thought every time I hear his name, so I wouldn’t put too much faith in his opinion!

It's going to be really tough, unless we recruit well. I'm sure most of us don't think Plymouth are great & we will do far better than them in the Championship. Maybe so, but we took 1pt from 2 games against them last season. Every team we play will be their standard, or better. Morsy & Luongo were well above the standard of most League 1 teams, but we're now at a different level.

More than half ticking their minimum standard as a real challenge makes us sound like the entitled bunch that we are sometimes accused of being. My own "minimum dream" would certainly be challenging for the play-off; my hope would be play-offs. But to suggest that my minimum standard would be as high as my dreams and hopes is to minimise the last 15 years.

Back to back promotions for Wednesday? He can’t have seen them play, surely. Either that or the poor man has eyesight problems.
Sunderland and others before them proved a good season was doable, not that it was easy.

I would say top ten,But the signings will till us much more I expect us to be be more busy than some think and to be ruthless with a 3 to 4 players leaving for low fees

I’ve put challenging for playoffs, but at this point there are so many variables. We’ve no idea what players we might sign - or that we might lose, so come back in 6 weeks and we can have another vote!
Some decent football, decent positive atmosphere and general improvement. I don’t find it healthy to have league table goals, as some people go off on one if they’re not met half way through the season (last season being an excellent example).
