Top 5 ITFC emotional feels 14:15 - Jun 7 with 3315 viewsIllinoisblue

1. Crying man from the Town in 25 video. At that moment he was all of us.

2. Marcus Stewart getting choked up at the end of the Wembley 2000 video. Like a punch to the heart on first viewing, hits even harder now knowing what’s ahead for him and his family.

3. Bobby Robson at the Sports Personality of The Year awards. “Where’s Roger?”

4. Kieran McKenna, arms aloft, acknowledging the 5,000 Town fans at the end of the Barnsley game. Very much an everyone knows “we’ve fking done it” moment.

5. Brenner. For his wonderful “2-0 OH, TREMENDOUS!” roar of commentary on the Hirst goal at Barnsley. Also for his summing up after the Exeter game “the big dark cloud has been lifted from Portman Road”. And for his simple but effective “Nathan Broadhead we love you!” From the Port Vale game.

The Dale Roberts game, all of it, from Rob Chandler's powerful tribute through to Darren Bent's unbelievable winner, and even including Pablo's sending-off and going 2-0 down. Every moment contributed to a day that took me through the emotions like no other game ever had or, I'm willing to bet, ever will.

We were immense that day and we announced to the Premiership that we were coming for yer but no-one was listening as it was the last game of the season and everyone had gone on holiday.

They should have listened - we finished 5th.

Don't believe a word I say. I'm only kidding. Or am I?

Didn’t know the lad either, but I stood in silence when we scored that goal, any sound and I’d have burst into tears I think

That very moment KMcK was looking at us all , his arms aloft was amazing

What also got me was Chaplin’s face when KMcK and the players started to walk away towards the tunnel. He just stood in awe watching us all singing trying to soak it all up. That got me. His face was a picture.

Great shout. That was an emotional rollercoaster. And what a comeback that was. And a nice little use of Tom Hark after we scored to have a dig at the blunts.

Yes that almost made my top 5. Thumping his chest after talking about the loss of his loved one and how Ipswich gave him new life. He gets it.

There was a video added which I now can't find from the Exeter game of a little lad crying whilst singing 'We've got Super Kieran McKenna' and then saying 'I'm just so happy'. That one got me. Can't find it since.

- Clarke’s reaction to being promoted.

- watching back all 101 goals this season got more emotional the closer to the end of the season. For me Bolton away was the real turning point. A statement win over a top 6 team, Hirst’s fantastic goal, Walton’s penalty save, and the feeling that not only was it a win, but a comfortable one.

- The demolitions of Barnsley and Peterborough on their own turf (and the subsequent disbelief from Weds fans who kept saying we’d slip up).

I remember that. I didn’t know him either, but the stars were aligned that day.

There’s a lot of heart string stuff in this thread, which is fine of course as it’s all powerful stuff. For raw emotion though, you’d struggle to beat Magic doing his magic in the PO semi. It was more intense than the final, which wasn’t as enjoyable imo until Reuser finished things off. Just nuts. I don’t think we’ll ever beat that night and I was only watching on TV (and yes I did see the 78 and 81 finals, but we almost expected success back then).

Lots of good nominations in this thread but Jim's hat-trick goal against Bolton has to be at or near the top of the list. Just the sheer joy & relief & then shortly afterwards the confirmation we were going to Wembley. I doubt I'll ever see another game like it.

I shall be greedy and divide this into two categories. Football wise:
1. Wark 3rd goal Highbury to take us to the Cup Final. What a moment
2. Reuser v Bolton
3. Osborne 1-0
4. Sitting in the front room hearing we’d got promoted at Oxford - one of the few I missed but it didn’t matter
5. Reuser 4-2 Premiership!

Singular personal moments
1. The moment I heard the club had been taken over by Gamechanger and dementor Evans was gone. We had a chance at long last!!
2. Magilton back at the club after so many years at the awards dinner in March. It felt like an open wound had been healed after Evans’ disgraceful behaviour to him
3. The moment Bobby Robson walked out at PR as Newcastle manager. The whole crowd stood and chanted his name.
4. Agree with the above - Marcus Stewart Wembley 2000 video
5. Chaplin looking at the crowd at Barnsley. There was just a glimpse of him as the camera focussed on McKenna and you could see what the moment meant to him.

There are so many I could choose, but these are the first that spring to mind.

These words echoing in my head as I recall taking my son to his first game ..

"What is a club in any case? …

Not the buildings or the directors or the people who are paid to represent it. It’s not the television contracts, get-out clauses, marketing departments or executive boxes.

It’s the noise, the passion, the feeling of belonging, the pride in your city … It’s a small boy clambering up the stadium steps for the very first time, gripping his father’s hand, gawping at that hallowed stretch of turf beneath him, and without being able to do a thing about it, falling in love.

Agree with all of the above. Another one for me, was when the 2nd and 3rd went in at Barnsley away, surrounded by all my mates within 5,000 fans, all just thinking we’re finally getting out of this league.

Pure elation, but also emotional after all the shít we’ve endured within the last decade, finally we’ve got something to celebrate again. Was jumping with pure joy, but also trying not to cry. What.a.week.

For me, Play off semi 1st leg 2000 at the Reebok. All of it. Going 2 down, injuries to Johnson and Mowbray, Stewart pointing exactly where he wanted Holland to put the ball for his first goal, Players celebrating the goal with the bench and Holland mouthing to Burley something like "we're going to do it", to Stewarts brilliant 2nd goal in front of a jubilant away end. What a day that was.
