In 2010, some people were beginning to think of women, poor people, foreigners and the LGBTQ community as human beings. Thankfully, the Tories have rolled back on that?

In many ways he is worse than Johnson.

Would it be churlish to point out that getting back to square one would in fact represent bounding forward about ten squares from where we are now?

I know you are a hardened Labour supporter, but myself as a disillusioned middle grounder can't see much difference been Starmer and Sunak in all honesty.

Starmer needs to be in power before you can judge him properly in a direct comparison. I can't imagine he'd be any worse - its a very low bar.

I'm no Starmer superfan but the difference between him and our appalling incumbent is vast. If you want to wave through a headspin further into authoritarianism and the piecemeal stripping away of rights you take for granted, though, it's not for me to stop you.

Really ? The same Sunak who’s wife was evad..sorry a non dom while he was chancellor of the exchequer, or up to his neck and fined for partygate, introduced eat out help out without consulting the sage experts.
Or flys every other day in a helicopter often to destinations acheiveable in 2 hours or less by car or train, openly admitted diverting cash from deprived areas to wealthy…and that list isn’t even exhaustive.

The only Muff in Town.

The wonderful John Crace made a similar comment in the Graun yesterday.
If Starmer would take us back to Square 1, then, with 75% of the Public (surveyed) saying things are worse now than 13 years ago, it stands to reason that things would be better once Labout take over...

(I note this as a political cynic, rather than supporter of any particular party).

Perhaps that poster refers to political opinions and actions rather than what his wife does or how he chooses to travel?

Ah. The weaselling of a cowardly Tory.

Starmer, dull and unimaginative and perhaps a little too fearful of upsetting the press as he is still represents an significant upgrade on the bigoted, corrupt, incompetent criminal Rishi Sunak.

You also get random abuse, because it's deemed acceptable.

That's how TWTD works.

The area where I think that is probably a fair criticism is in Starmer's and Reeves' apparent embracing of the neoliberal economic ideology that is very similar (identical?) to the Tories. That's potentially bad news for all of us, but is only one area of government of course.

Just some attempt at governing and not being in full-time campaign and deflection mode would be an improvement. So it's not going to be too hard to be an improvement on the 21st Century Tories, no matter the policies.

How he chooses to travel is relevant in terms of environmental responsibility. He’s the PM, if he frequently travels by helicopter, why the hell should the ordinary person take fewer car journeys etc.
