Relegation incoming 06:38 - Aug 15 with 3628 views | blueboyd | Not seen anything during the close season that says we are not in for a relegation battle this season. Manager who really had an urge to put himself in the shop window, signings have not been top quality and more geared towards winning the championship next season, and we are really struggling to increase the size of the squad with hours to go until Liverpool at home. What makes people genuinely think we can compete against 95% of the teams in this Premiership. I await the downvotes for being realistic.

Relegation incoming on 06:47 - Aug 15 with 3263 views | jayessess | Can't fathom why you'd be this miserable (sorry, "realistic") after the last two years. Our Summer business could've consisted of re-signing Hawkins, Ward and Cornell and I'd still be skipping to work and whistling EEJB in my sleep.

Relegation incoming on 06:48 - Aug 15 with 3258 views | Reus30 | Ok here is a list. Competent ownership Kieran McKenna A fan base home and away that aren't just day trippers and will push the team along A team spirit I for one haven't seen in my lifetime Some talented players that whilst untested at this level, will give it everything to succeed and I think have the ability to do well. Attacking football and the ability to always score goals Kieran McKenna A team that has been one of the best teams in the last two decades in the world statically speaking. Kieran McKenna Enough for you?

Relegation incoming on 06:49 - Aug 15 with 3236 views | Yppswyche | The mind boggles at what you were expecting this summer to have been like.. it may be you who was being unrealistic at the start, rather than any of the rest of us being unrealistic now, though you’ve conveniently neglected to mention the beating of a champions league team and the pair of Europa league teams on route. Chin up lad, you never know you might even enjoy yourself x
Relegation incoming on 06:52 - Aug 15 with 3183 views | SheffordBlue | Don't think we can fully judge the transfer window until the 30th and much of the rest of the season will depend on the strength and depth we end up with. Looks like a lot of business will be done late.

Relegation incoming on 07:13 - Aug 15 with 2953 views | Vic | Downvote for the heading! I think most of us accept that this season could be difficult, and few would be surprised if we’re involved in a relegation scrap. Very few are seriously saying with confidence that we’ll do this or that - it’s a big unknown and Saturday will be the first time we get a little glimpse of how things might go. My suspicion is that you’re having a little troll - and I’ve bitten!

Relegation incoming on 07:22 - Aug 15 with 2848 views | EddyJ | We may get relegated. We may surprise the pundits and stay up. Our players are individually not as good as the other premier league teams, but we have consistency, a clear vision, a good manager, a winning mentality, and a good team spirit on our side. Time will tell whether that is enough, but it is something. We are coming off the back of our best two seasons in recent memory. This is our first time in the top tier for 20+ years. Enjoy the ride. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Relegation incoming on 07:22 - Aug 15 with 2842 views | IPS_wich | Because it's not just about the off-season. Let me give you some reasons to be optimistic: - We've lost 10 of our last 92 league games; momentum is not something you can overlook - 11 months ago we beat the team that finished 14th in the Premier League (Wolves) - We've added some significant quality to that team from 11 months ago, including Omari who is a much better player than then - We are not going to get a points deduction this season, but Leicester and others will - All of our players have had a three month break We just need to finish above Southampton (who we beat twice last year); Leicester (who have lost their manager and best player and likely to get a points discussion) AND one other.
Relegation incoming on 07:23 - Aug 15 with 2835 views | Churchman | So, at the start of the transfer window, what were your expectations? At the start of last season, what were your expectations? At the start of Feb 2023, what were your expectations for the rest of that L1 season? We have no idea what is going to happen. You can be pessimistic for the rest of the transfer window, the season ahead but the actual reality is two things: We need to finish above 15% of the PL teams - no so far off your 5%. Secondly, this club is making every effort to move itself forward in every way. Investors are piling in, they’re working hard on everything from the playing staff to replacing the bins outside. The contrast to four years ago is staggering. There isn’t room for negativity or pessimism. Things this season may go well, they may not. But the club is moving forward. Enjoy the ride, because 2010s stagnation this isn’t.
Relegation incoming on 07:44 - Aug 15 with 2597 views | Blue_Heath | If I am really honest then yes relegation is highly likely. That said we defied the odds by getting top two last two seasons. In terms of signings we have done as well as we can given two years ago we were in league one and no current players would have seen us in the premier league during their lifetime. I think we did well to get Delap, he has a lot of promise, it's just whether he can score goals. The key to staying up is being strong at home (8 wins, 2 draws) and getting something on the board early. A 2-2 Liverpool would be a great confidence booster, then it's about trying to get as close to 30 points as possible by the end of January. If we can do that we have a chance. Hoping that FFP will come and sting a few teams to help us out and I am sure if it looks like we could stay up the club will spend again in January. I am an old school fan and hate losing. It ruins my week, The last 2 years have been exceptional and have been a real pleasure like certain periods of Burley's and Royle's tenure. I am going to have try and change my mindset this year to 'enjoy' the premier league despite VAR, SKY and likely many defeats, I hated 94/5 and 01/02 seasons albeit we had a few great results in there. We have our club back, will be interesting to see who can step up again this season. Last year Vaz and Burgess didn't look like they'd be up to it but proved to be two of our most valuable players. Really hoping Tuanzebe can maintain fitness and push on. Hoping a Harness or Taylor can do the same.

Relegation incoming on 08:19 - Aug 15 with 2228 views | Guthrum | What is it about our pre-season victories over Europa League teams and Shaktar Donetsk which suggests to you we won't be able to compete with the likes of Forest, Brentford and Wolves, let alone Leicester and Southampton, who we matched or beat last season?

Relegation incoming on 08:30 - Aug 15 with 2049 views | PioneerBlue | Whilst I don’t disagree that there is a huge battle to stay in the league about to start, and the most likely outcome may well be relegation, there is however a good chance we defy those odds. The way you’ve chosen to focus on negatives is interesting for a supporter of a club like Ipswich where literally nothing has come easy in the history of the club. Surely, as a supporter you spin those negatives and say the positives are, KMck chose Ipswich over others, early in the window we brought some of the countries brightest Champ tested youngsters to the club, the core squad will have benefited from two very productive seasons, and investment off the field is off the scale for a small town club. Ipswich will be in a better placed this time next season than we were going into the Championship whether we’ve lost that PL battle or we are planning for PL season II.

None of us are daft enough to consider that possibility. Nor daft enough to upvote such a silly post.
