I don't have a pond I'm afraid, and I probably wouldn't want to give you the business if I did.

Tory London Mayor candidate on 13:10 - Jan 16 by J2BLUE | It does but that was an act of deception really. He spent a long time creating his public perception. The veil has well and truly slipped now. |
And Labour didn't put up a particularly good candidate in 2008 or 2012.

Tory London Mayor candidate on 09:48 - Jan 16 by StokieBlue | The issue with this entire post is it assumes that having a view is enough to make it valid and correct. Unfortunately that is not the case but a myth perpetuated by those with pretty unsavoury views who don't want to engage in the evidence around that viewpoint. If someone is willing to put forward their view they should be able to defend it when presented with evidence which shows it to be inaccurate. If they can't defend it then a sensible person would modified their position rather than ignoring the evidence and repeating said views at the next opportunity. SB |
I've been busy working. Very right wing capitalist of me, sorry. My politics - fully paid up member of the Liberal Democrats. Economically slightly right of centre (save then spend, prudence, live within your means, give away part of what you earn to those poorer than you), socially slightly left of centre (look after the poor and marginalised, protect the weak, defend justice (legal and social), allow personal wealth but realise the pie is only so big and the more you have the less is left for everyone else, protect freedom). The Lib Dems nationally aren't doing this, but they are closer than the other two parties. Locally however they are, we live is a super safe Tory seat but the three local councillors are Lib Dem because they are local, hard working, really involved and will do anything for the people of the town (up at 3AM recently filling sand bags to stem the floods). What worries me most at the moment is that real minority views are being "normalised" and "condoned". The view that "I can do it because everyone else is doing it" and because you are in an echo chamber and there is no community check and balance (eg normal people). The lockdowns have undoubtedly made this worse - I was banned from a "late capitalism" forum earlier this week for suggesting that hard left and hard right are so similar they are like a horseshoe where the top almost touches (more or less that statement word for word). Banned for a "childish and immature" view. My hope is that the "old fashioned" virtues of politeness, helpfulness and civility will win through in the end - I consider that most people have these at their core, it's just that "most" seems to be declining.

They've been well and truly mugged off to such an extent that they'll never admit it now, hence the doubling down. The one thing he does have going for him in their eyes is his willingness to hurt the people they like to see hurt though. |

Is it? Supporting someone signals that you condone their conduct. Especially when there's a refusal to hold them to account for their bad behaviour. You'd hold Corbyn supporters to this standard, I presume?

Part of me is amazed he's on 28%. He's so appalling I struggle to see why anyone would vote for him - I assume any vaguely sensible Tory would probably vote for the Lib Dem candidate. From a local Facebook group, the only people I can see supporting him are people 60+ who are only capable of parroting tabloid headlines and insults about Sadiq Khan.
