Neil Harris on the shortlist on 12:39 - Feb 18 by Herbivore | Ah yeah, I think Phil said his name had come up a few weeks ago actually. Christ, that's depressing. Appointing a manager who has just been sacked for not being very good isn't a great idea. Like I say, nice guy but he's shown nothing to suggest he's a decent manager. |
Problem is recruiting a manager mid season its always likely to be some one whose been sacked. That's been the problem with town. I think the only planned appointment we have made since Jim has been Hurst we all know that turned out.

Neil Harris on the shortlist on 13:07 - Feb 18 by hadleighboyblue | Agree it's not the right time for Dyer . Too much of a mess to sort out , including players out of contract and others we need to get rid of , it's a major overhaul . If he was to take it , it would be essential that he had a great team of people working with him that he could trust . People that care about ITFC would make a nice change too . |
If people accept that the Academy has been one of the only successes of the club in recent years, then letting him be manager with the support of those in the academy to run the whiole club makes sense

Neil Harris on the shortlist on 13:13 - Feb 18 by itfcjoe | There's never a good time to take a job - the chances of Dyer getting a job at this level in his whole career are minimal in reality, he would be desperate for it. Look at someone like Sol Campbell, did a terriffic job at Macclesfield and ends up at Southend who were utterly awful and now he's tarnished again. Bellamy is Mr Keen to get a job, he was at Cardiff U18s, now at Anderlecht U21s. Joey Barton starts at Fleetwood. The only chance Dyer has to get a job of this size is here, and being right place right time, or blowing the doors off at a club below us where the constraints will be massive. |
I think there are some positives we still have for somebody who’s up for the challenge. Ironically one of them could be that the number of loanees and players out of contract in the summer makes any squad clear out a little easier to implement.

Tbh I can't remember posting any 'def infos' other than a tounge in cheek team announcement at 2pm against Shrewsbury. If I had then it would have been in jest. I don't know anyone at PR. Just checked my posts and I cant see any.. let me know if you see it somewhere. [Post edited 18 Feb 2021 13:38]

Neil Harris on the shortlist on 13:10 - Feb 18 by Paramedic | I don’t think there is a short list at all. I think he’s going to let Lambert go on and on and allow the club to rot further and further into decline. Really worried about what the future holds for this club right now. |
He must have some form of list. Hes now spoken with Pearson. Cook. Cowleys. Harris. God knows who else.

Neil Harris on the shortlist on 13:05 - Feb 18 by jayessess | None of our other managers inherited the club halfway down a league full of much smaller clubs with far fewer resources. As a manager, you'd have to be astonishingly lacking in confidence to imagine you'd make a greater hash of it than Lambert has. Like I say, the pay cheque and the job security are, in themselves, a massive attraction. [Post edited 18 Feb 2021 13:08]

There are far greater resources here than the Cowleys had at Lincoln. I think we need to keep things in perspective. There’s enough here to make a roaring success of league one - if you know what you’re doing.

At the moment, I'm not in team "Marcus Evans Out". If he is willing to change the structure of the club, and make an appropriate managerial appointment, then I won't asking for him to leave. If he makes either of those two appointments, or someone of that calibre, then I will be fully in team "Marcus Evans Out". I'd rather have a poorer owner with an idea, than someone who thinks that type of appointment is suitable.

Neil Harris on the shortlist on 12:43 - Feb 18 by N2_Blue | Herbs, how are we going to get a decent manager? What decent manager is going to be interested in managing this club based on the grave yard of managers over the last 12 years, the lack of structure in the club, having an owner that is clearly more of a problem behind the scenes than is publicly known. We are in L1 with a monumental amount of issues. Decent managers will not be here. It's either inexperienced or someone trying to attempt to get their careers started again because no one else will touch them. That is depressing but its the reality |
I think for all of the issues we have, we're still a big club at this level with more potential upside than most League 1 sides. We've got a decent fan base and a good academy. Evans, for all his faults, gives managers time and for this level offers good financial backing as well. I think we can still attract a fairly decent calibre of manager here. Someone like Danny Cowley would jump at the chance I imagine, and given how they built Lincoln up I can see why the Cowleys might be a good option for us.

Neil Harris on the shortlist on 13:55 - Feb 18 with 2313 views | monty_radio | Harris may be worse than Lambert, but his more recent achievements don't say so: Three play-offs with two clubs, one promotion, F.A. quarter final with Millwall and Semi with Cardiff - all within the last 5 years, a win rate in excess of 40%, and not much older than Sir Bob when he came here with no achievement at all. While he wouldn't be my choice he's clearly still a younger manager with potential. Can't see why he's bracketed with old lags who have done nothing in a decade.

He won't change how he operates, so you may as well cross over to this side now. I hoped he may have done once, many years ago. I'm more open on the next manager. Whoever comes in I'll be willing to see how they go for a few months, even if it's one of those two. Not that either would fill me with much hope.

I know Harris got Cardiff in the top 6 last season but he did poorly there this term with pretty decent resources. He did a fantastic job at Millwall, a club that he knows inside out, top to bottom but I'm personally a bit skeptical about him. Football is littered with managers that have done decent enough jobs at clubs they know but little else when they've gone elsewhere. It's the same when people clamor for Artell from Crewe. Harris is also the absolute antithesis of what Evans has supposedly been demanding in terms of football style. All about playing for set pieces and throw ins, a budget Pulis basically.

Talking of throw ins, can anyone ever recall us having a chance let alone a goal as a result of Knudsens throw-ins?

....so it didn't happen here. Denmark scored in the last 16 of the WC from one of his throws I believe. Were better off now that we've got Kenlock and Ward anyway. Knudsen out.
