There has been a massive head in the sand on TWTD this week.... on 17:20 - Apr 10 by unstableblue | ... as Phil stated he did not know that the take over was going ahead He has clearly stated he was expecting a summer working with Marcus and how he was finding Marcus to be excellent and the exciting plans were with Marcus He refused a presser Friday, he’s done the same today Poor Cook doesn’t even know who his new boss is... as the CEO is not even appointed Not good, but should have been expected. He probably feels let down by Marcus |
He feels let down by Marcus? Welcome to the last 13 years of our lives! If Cook walks now, I just don't know.... I'd still say Nigel Clough would be the best man for this job and has all the right credentials from his playing career, and from managing in this league to do an excellent job here. He also knows Ipswich, the way we played and the standards of this club. I really don't know how we have continually overlooked Clough as an appointment.

Cook not doing the post match press conference on 17:24 - Apr 10 by homer_123 | But they aren't meaningless. We have a chance of the play offs and promotion. To be so abject and criminal. We cannot assume next season will be better. Take the opportunity in front of you....yet Cook hasn't managed to get anything from them. Disappointing. |
Realistically we aren't good enough to be in the playoffs or get promotion. It was a pipe dream when Lambert left and a few wins made it look possible but in reality nothing changed. Perhaps there isn't much to get? Getting a new manager doesn't instantly improve the players, especially when they seem so mentally fragile and devoid of ideas. SB

Yes, just saying it's a possibility - think he might have agreed to join the club because of the chance to work in a specific type of set-up, and now he's basically being told that it'll be the complete opposite of what he expected.

Cook not doing the post match press conference on 17:29 - Apr 10 by hadleighboyblue | no pre match or post match interview with the manager seems very strange . 1st question to Gill should be why is the manager not doing interviews ? It does make you wonder if something is going on |
No, the first question to Gill should be: "Well Matt, you managed to get some very good results with exactly the same group of players. How would you have set up to beat MK Dons today?" ;-)
Cook not doing the post match press conference on 17:33 - Apr 10 with 2400 views | pointofblue | Brenner didn't even ask Gill where Cook was which is odd considering BBC Radio Suffolk is making a lot out of it.

If he was to do that, fine. See you later. Like anyone else at the club, it’s time for people to commit 100% and all start pointing in the same direction. At this moment, with the situation the club’s in with essentially a new start, it’s not beholding to anyone and that includes Cook. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Which would be even more concerning if so as it means something serious is happening behind the scenes. If Cook has just lost his voice it wouldn't be such an issue.

Then why change the manager? Just as Lambert was brought in to stave off relegation in the first instance. Cook will have been brought in to first snd foremost try and get promotion. We've gone down the road of clearing out before....

Don't think this is very good - if Cook didn't know about the takeover at all he's been completely shafted by Evans -just put in place in case the takeover fell through, with Evans knowing that Cook might not want to work under the new club structure etc.

That's not the point - the issue is whether Cook will be happy working under a CEO making transfer decisions. [Post edited 10 Apr 2021 17:42]

Agree but if the players had anything about them we would have got a new manager bounce, we have too many players that go missing. Very similar group to the one Lambert took over and had absolutely no fight in it. We need a thorough clear out, there's too many losers within this group.

More than the CEO thing, let's just say I'm not entirely convinced Cook will be sold on a data/analytics-led approach. But I doubt that would account for him at this point. Expect he'll have next year to get us up. [Post edited 10 Apr 2021 17:46]

Do people think cook would have turned down offers from championship teams with a budget much bigger than what Evans has given... 100% he has known about the takeover

Yup, really can't see him being happy to see recruitment taken out of his hands - really think that the attraction of Ipswich / ME was that the manager could just basically have free reign to do whatever - that's now going to be turned on it's head.
