So Dobra on 16:27 - May 30 by footers | You seem to have skipped over "that's their perogative". Do what you want, I'm not telling you not to. But tbh I've got better things to do over summer than trawl Twitter for every ITFC rumour and discuss it to death. Oh, and will you stop with this 'using the forum for its purpose' - yes, we all know; in fact, most of us have been here far longer than you have. Although some days it really doesn't seem like it. My point isnt about if we should or shouldn't. What I'm saying is just because you personally dont want to doesnt mean those that do agonise..over player links etc. I use the forum as it passes the time and enjoy the debate. I feel no pain doing so. Oh and regarding the forum usage "I've got better things to do over summer than trawl Twitter for every ITFC rumour and discuss it to death" Good for you. Enjoy. But the forum is a place to discuss itfc rumours.. for as long as you want.. ;) [Post edited 30 May 2021 16:33]

Lovely gesture from him, but I don't really see what it's got to do with his treatment of Dobra. It's quite possible he's written to this fan and said what he is reported to have said to Dobra, the two aren't mutually exclusive.

I happened to find myself sat on a table next to, then with, Cook for a good 15/20 mins outside a local pub in Ipswich a few weeks back. Touched on ITFC but felt it a bit tw*tty to go poking my noise in his profession, more talked about the area, the town etc. main things I got from that was what a really enthusiastic, passionate, driven, infectious individual he came across as. the few of us sat there all mentioned that we felt the club was in a safe pair of hands, and that if you've set your mind to it already that you don't like him that there's other factors that come in to play - he's released your favourite player for example, and you've got the arsehole about it. Do I wish we'd done more to end the season better, yes. do I blame that on the manager, hmmmm not entirely. I think he's completely fcked off with how little they gave him towards the end and doesn't trust them. can anyone really hold that against him when his profession is a results business, and the bad results count against him?

We are in an exciting position as fans - new owners who seem to know what they are doing, new CEO with a proven track record and a new manager with a brilliant record at this level. It's a shame the order it has all happened in, as would have been nicer to have owner/CEO in before manager so we knew it was their guy - but can't always get what you want. But for me we are in that phase where for some fans the new manager can do no wrong, and for anyone who questions anything you get seen as wanting them out, or to fail, when that is surely not the case for anyone. Managers need to earn their reputation at each club, Cook has some way to go for me personally, but like every other fan I'm looking forward first and foremost to see what team we have out there come August and getting back to games and supporting the side.

I'm not of the thinking he can do no wrong, but i'm also not in the position of looking to find things to pick at. for once I am completely relaxed and chilled about Town, i'm not reading any rumours into players coming in, not reading the news stories. just waiting for the next 3/4/5 weeks to pass and see where we are and who we have in the door.

I am sure people won't be micro analysing the Ashton press conference today and looking for things to pick at... I agree, ultimately he will be judged on what the side looks like come the opening day of the season and how quickly we gel. Until then it is pointless getting too high or too low about anything. Finally we have competent people in the right roles though which bodes well.

I doubt anyone thinks he can do no wrong. He has already said he’s made mistakes and so he has. However analysing everything he does to find fault, including targeting a Coach’s qualifications (a new first) seems over the top. He needs to be given the opportunity to do his job. He will be judged soon enough on that and rightly so. As for news stories, I try to avoid them, but fail dismally. I can’t help myself because it’s fun. There is also potentially more interesting stuff than 14 years of Evans where you knew any replacement would always be cheaper and usually worse than the player they replaced. The other certainty was that the mould would have increased, the ground more decayed and the words more empty. Maybe not this summer.

I don't really get the impression some think Cook can do no wrong. It's more a case of it being far too early to judge him on anything really. ITFC has been a basket case for years. So many things have just been done wrongly. It will take time to turn it around. We've got a manager now that most agreed with, whose track record speaks for itself. With the whole infrastructure changing as well, plus a massive rebuilding job of the first team, we aren't going to just become great overnight. I hope our fans realise that, and get a bit of perspective and patience. I say this with every manager though, and they still jump on his back if they don't start brilliantly. All our best managers took a while to build a great team.

I'm one people assume can see no wrong in PC, which I appreciate However, it's mainly because I've never looked at his time here with anything other than preperation for 2021/2022 season PC had 16 games, only lost 4 of them, didn't lose a home game and oversaw probably one of the toughest endings of a season as a manager with players out of contract, unfit with playoffs in mathimatical reach but always unlikely. I do appreciate on paper, we had an 'easy run in' however scoring goals had been our issue all season, it wasn't new and it also wasn't as if PC refused to try something differet in the hope it changed this, but no matter what formation he picked or side he picked, it did not improve, for me that shows why we need a raft of player changes, and although it's not popular, all the players being let go that people like, unfortunately have all played in the positions that struggled to score/create goals. And i feel the emotion of these players being told they can leave has stopped some supporters from seeing the bigger picture.

Whilst you're correct in saying that new managers need to earn their reputation and that the 'can do no wrong' section of fans are probably going a little overboard, you can't also be saying things like: "How about Paul Cook find a new club, this regime is going to be a disaster". I'm probably paraphrasing somewhat there, but you said that a few weeks ago. That is an equally over the top reaction to the 'he can do no wrong' crew. [Post edited 1 Jun 2021 12:46]

It's up to each supporter to have their own interpretation though, which I think is lead by how you were seeing his time in charge Am I aware we struggled to score, yes, struggled to win, absolutely, failed to finish top 6, yes is it anything less than I expected, no.

Jesus Spruce 1 post about drinans renewal doesn't suddenly mean i've been PC out since day 1, if you must really know, that day was the day we found out how long my father in law has left to live following his diagnoses of lung cancer, i was having a bad day, as i said on the day and apologised for on the very same thread that very same night, I took the drinan news as a kick to the teeth over the academy, which whilst stupid at the time, that's why i lost it for that 1 specific post for what? about an hour - which you keep bringing up. I find it’s always best to make judgements on factual data. 20/21 points per game prior to Cook’s arrival 1.67, points per game after his arrival 1.19. Unarguable.
