That thread shouldn't have been removed 09:39 - Jul 16 with 12384 viewsStokieBlue

I don't think that thread should have been removed.

Some people posted controversial views in there which were read by those concerned and are now not available to the greater community. People have left, some during the course of that thread and I don't think the posts should be stricken from the record like that.

Didn't we have a bit of bantz with the Charlton lot at that time? They thought we'd be back up pretty quick and they'd be in the PL forever....how well did that go?

I don’t remember that. You may be right, but TWTD had never had much time for cross-board wars, concerned more as it has always been with internal politicking.

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

This is so meta - we've got a growing thread discussing a thread that has been removed, and that thread discussed a poster who no longer posts!

That was definitely the best invasion. Mind you, after what's happened in the last month they're probably all grown up 'football fans' now. We did do one or two other rivals sites i seem to remember.

We all decamped to the glassblowers board because TWTD was too slow to use one day.

There was a time when all the posters on all the different club sites run by Rivals had a free pass to go onto each others' forums without registering for a new account on that site wasn't there - something to do with a takeover which only lasted a short time? Might have caused a bit of mayhem, I can't remember!

There was a virtual fracas with the charlton board, but yes short lived.

The board war with the massives from Manchester City, in the days when us and them were genuine rivals, went on for quite some time though. A bunch of tw@ts from their postcode were on here regularly, and we had our own band of intellectually limited lads who frequented whatever their board was.

The whigfield invasion was an afternoon well spent.

Trailing vapour since 1999.

The bedwetting when the tables were turned was hilarious.

Sorry, I didn't think it showed the forum at its best and agreed with the comment about aspects of it being quite nasty. Was uncomfortable about some of the comments which had been made remaining. Didn't think they made the site seem particularly welcoming and not sort of place I'd like it to be.

I agree it wasn’t a great look for the forum.

There was some nastiness creeping in that was unnecessary . Didn’t think a post commenting on ChrisMakin was necessary and if I read that about myself I wouldn’t feel great. Be kinder people.

I don't know, it was rather tedious in places. A few too many people on here, including some I generally like as posters, can't resist going over old grudges all the time. I'm more surprised it lasted as long as it did.

Telling Phil he isn't running the board very well isn't a great look either.

Edit: to clarify that last comment not aimed at this post, rather some of the comment in the other thread.

I can’t be the only long term member who sees a thread with more than four pages and thinks ‘here we go again - won’t bother with that one’. It’s so sadly predictable and Phil’s correct to clean the place up.

Policing threads on politics, Brexit, BLM , departing posters & covid are obviously causing 95% of your problems on here.

Maybe it’s time for you to make it a football only forum.

I’m sure that would help the drive for new recruits, who are obviously being put off by 10 pages of disagreement on taking the knee, mask-wearing, Corbyn, feeding starving kids etc.

Personally, I love those threads as it’s wonderful to see a baseless & ignorant opinion torn to shreds, but it clearly deters new intakes.

Has the new away kit been discussed yet?

If people want to read endlessly repeated threads about new kits, squad numbers, what an idiot the manager is/isn't, team selection, why aren't we buying a player who'd never entertain signing for us, and so on, they can select the football only view.

Just use the button at the top of the forum.

so a thread can turn nasty without spruce and herb. i thought that couldn't happen unless they were involved , which has turned out to be untrue
