I would love Manning and Hogg to come but I fear it will end up being Lee Johnson.

Same, but Manning is my first choice.

Chris Hogg is his assistant.
David Wight is his first team coach.
Lewis Price is his GK coach.

Get them in.

Has to be Manning.

Anything else realistically will feel incredibly deflating, and probably no upgrade on Paul Cook.

Fine, but they are at a good club, supported by the owner, doing well. Why would they come here? If they go anywhere, surely it’ll be to a club in the Championship or at the very least to a club like Sunderland

I get that but I think we would have a lot of sway with George in Hogg's ear. They know the potential of the club and the opportunity to flip us is huuuuuge. Big club, big backing, big ambitions and family and personal ties.

Money I'd guess? Based on the transfer window I don't think it's unfair to assume we could blow what they are currently being paid out of the water. We're also a big club for this level with a much larger fanbase than MK Dons. They might find that appealing?

Out of everyone touted so far (well, the realistic one's anyway) he's got to be right up there.

David Wright still lives in Ipswich as well.

Didn't know Lewis Price is his GK coach.... 150 appearances in a 17 year career is pretty low!

Yep we should be trying very hard to do that. It's such delicate timing for all parties though and I do wonder if that'll get the better of us.

Fair comment. If these guys are what the owners, CEO, Chairman want, offer them the money to get them in, compo for MKD, and make it clear that they will get all the support they need. I.e. not lukewarm see how it goes.

Ashton and co have been quite good on clear messaging and they really need to be now with whoever gets the job. I’m personally not keen on interims/rest of season/Warnock do a job in the short term style decisions.

Yeah I’m fully onboard of the Manning bus.

My only thing is, honestly, would you leave 6th placed MK dons (after putting in half a seasons work) to come here and potentially miss out on a play off finish because the team you take over aren’t your players and drilled how you want them.

That said if we have ‘the best squad in the division’ then surely they’d take to any style given to them

Guess that would be down to him to decide

With the greatest respects, we'd be tripling his money, and those in his backroom staff overnight and he'd be coming in to work with the best squad in the League.

I personally don't get the whole 'why would he leave MK Dons for us' bit. If we want him, I'm sure we'd get him.

Whats the matter with one upfront? Barely anyone plays with 2 up top these days.

The idea that "one up front" is a remotely negative or bad thing is utter nonsense — it just depends on how the rest of the team is set up.

They have played 343 in recent matches.

I'd take more stock in that rather than a static field on a website.

I just couldn't see him turning it down. I think in football you have to cash in your chips and take your opportunities when you get them - he could equally likely finish outside the play-offs at MK this season and never get the chance again. I read yesterday they reckon Martin wants 1/2 of the MK players in January too and realistically they are a club that will struggle to hold onto their best players.

Manning is one of the few names being bandied about that I like.

Would he be afforded the time to build though as he's in a job where he's taken over from a decent set up team and process in terms of how they play.

It's all variations of the same thing anyway — two wider lads or dropping off, one down the middle, no reason to cast it as negative at all.
