Strange take. I Don't actually say I'm right. I give my opinion on things. Like the one with flash last week. He had a view I had a view. I'm comfortable that his view is different. We certainly wouldn't end up agreeing with each other but that's life. |
One thing missing from your quite reasonable original post which was almost certainly on the agenda in Phoenix this week is that failure to get promoted this season was allegedly in the business plan - but regression certainly wasn’t. Ashton made a huge mistake in allowing Cook to destroy the squad at the very time Covid made the third division uncompetitive. Promotion next season is surely mandated in the same business plan. So of course Ashton is under pressure - although he’ll be immensely well rewarded for failure.
What remains unsaid is the strange structure of the project. Two people in the UK persuaded a trio of Americans to borrow some money to buy a dysfunctional small town club in lil olde England that hasn’t won anything for three decades. So you end up with Schwarz holding the purse strings and effectively owning the club - but doesn’t, three people sitting on a business plan (one of whom now backs Tucson instead of Phoenix) and two people tasked with making it happen, both of whom have already made a financial killing. It’s not exactly a structure for success IF things go pear-shaped.
So we are where we are. More or less on plan - but expected to deliver next year when the division will be far more competitive. |  |

Slightly tabloid way of putting it and obviously it's slightly early to start getting concerned about what may happen at the end of next season, but I can imagine there won't be a surfeit of patience among the owners if we don't go up next season. |
It would be interesting to know the Key Performance Indicators that both have. For Ashton it won't be all about the onfield performance but about increasing revenue across the board. Some of that might come from player transfers but we've lagged so far behind off the pitch that he should be able to signficantly increase that anyway - digital marketing, match day revenue from catering etc | |

No. I said I listened to 1 game on the radio as I couldn't catch the game on I follow. SB brought it up every week as I commented on Edwards losing the ball alot. Which the commentators said. But apparently as I didn't watch it, it didn't happen and couldn't be commented about.

Depends what you mean by ‘acceptable’. And to whom. Most realistic Town fans would settle for some constructive team building - and probably be overjoyed to make the play offs. History suggests that the play offs would be a graveyard for Town’s promotion hopes.
Our gurning chief exec probably couldn’t care less. He has awarded himself a solid gold salary and a massive pay off for failure. So he can afford to smile his way through any little difficulties that might have experienced in Phoenix last week. His is a win win situation even when Town lose.
The three amigos are probably a bit anxious - and I suspect you’re right. Ashton, McKenna or both will not be here after next season IF Town aren’t promoted. After all they have to justify themselves to Schwarz - but heck guys, it’s not their money - so I suspect they’re just a bit cross that all that east money and added value appears an illusion for now
Schwarz is probably drumming his fingers on the desk as he compares last year’s projection with this season’s reality - but won’t hit the panic button again unless things go pear shaped again.

There was a suggestion above that we are no longer a garbage club because a bunch of people with limited experience running professional football clubs have chucked some money at it.
Fingers crossed they're not into this hiring and firing model, and fingers crossed they are genuine about having a productive academy, but we have no evidence of either yet. If anything, i'm slightly concerned that the cook sacking, which, whilst probably deserved, seemed a bit early, and the lack of minutes for academy players this season is evidence of both.
In short, i'm confident in mckenna but i think your question is valid - it's the owners who will be tested next season. | |
