Celina or Twine......with the following conditions 14:08 - Jun 14 with 7579 views | itfcjoe | Celina - one year loan, total cost - approx £800k to £1m. No resale at end obviously. Twine - £4m transfer fee, 4 year contract on £15k a week, total investment ~£7m, with potential resale if he does well. What would you go with, personally I'd normally go for the permanent transfer - but feel as though any investment we'd have to make in Twine (if we could get him) would be so large and risky I'd edge towards the safer choice of Celina and spend elsewhere

Celina or Twine......with the following conditions on 14:39 - Jun 14 by EssexBloo | Do you think there’s a chance Twine would come here Joe? For me it just seems he will get better offers. Would love to get him though! |
I think we prob have more financial muscle than anyone bar the top 10 or so clubs in the Champ, so always have a chance

I heard that Twine’s Mrs fancies a job at Ipswich Hospital, may be the deal breaker.

Cheers for that. Tea spat everywhere. Twine and Nolan shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence. Apart from the one I just used to confirm they shouldn't be in the same sentence. Twine is (22 and) an absolute talent on a trajectory to be in the Premier League in the next few years. Nolan was about 26 and a decent player in a Shrewbury team that punched above it's weight. It's like comparing MK Dons Dele Ali and when we loaned Josh Harrop.

Seen plenty of promising players fail over the years ,Connor Wickham being an obvious one you maybe right you maybe wrong, what isn't up for debate is the quality Celina has though Celina every time,Twine would be an expensive risk

Celina or Twine......with the following conditions on 14:59 - Jun 14 by MattinLondon | Twine would be an excellent signing and Celina would be a very good signing. Unfortunately there is absolutely no chance that we’ll get Twine. And I’ll be surprised if Celina comes back even on a loan. |
I agree about twine, though I am not so sure Celina won't come back - the problem with him coming back is the same as last year, we have a lot of bodies for that position that all have green patches

Celina or Twine......with the following conditions on 15:59 - Jun 14 with 1534 views | dirtyboy | Don't get me wrong, I'd love Twine here, but like someone else mentioned, if we don't get promoted and he gets injured or simply doesn't fit in or enjoy it, things can go pear shaped pretty quickly for a League 1 club spending that kind of money on a transfer fee. Celina loan is still insane money in this league. I think I trust the team we have in place to get the right players at the right point though, so if Twine turns up, i'll be happy still. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Twine 20 in 45. Celina 6 in 32. Twine is 3 years younger too. Every transfer is a risk.

I think you'd have to be very sure that Twine is the one. You'd need 30+ goal contributions out of him next season for him to retain his value and a very good season in the Championship to realise much more out of him. There's always a risk of that happening with a transfer, but this would be a biiiiiiiiiiiiiiig bet.

Wickham did not fail due to a lack of talent, it was his fitness. No matter what player, fitness is always a potential risk. You have to speculate sometimes. Ollie Watkins a prime example at Brentford. They paid good money to Exeter (ca. £1.8 million) and a few years later sold him to Villa for £28 million. However, nothi g is guaranteed, that's for sure!

Celina or Twine......with the following conditions on 16:35 - Jun 14 with 1424 views | gosblue | We need a left sided number 10 - Celina isn’t that. We need someone who can play 90 minutes twice-a-week - Celina can’t do that once-a-week. We need to be honest, Celina will always be a Town legend but I imagine his Town days are over. He would be a wonderful luxury as would a £4m signing in League 1. I’d be surprised if either were to happen.

Plus Twine would be mad to come here, he is too good for league 1 so why sign to play there again ? Will have offers from championship and maybe prem sides, he won’t be coming here sadly, whatever we are prepared to pay him, and rightly so, he should be looking to play higher.

Fraser is a really odd one - Whilst he didn't do much to shine, it also felt like he didn't get very much time to try either

IMO you can want more consistency and total output than Celina gave us or can you spend less money in that position, not sure you can do both (not without a gamble coming off anyway).

Is Twine more consistently involved in games though? Takes a beautiful free-kick and can definitely finish from a range of angles but I'm not sure he's a guy that makes a team tick. Maybe I'm wrong.

Celina or Twine......with the following conditions on 14:54 - Jun 14 by NthQldITFC | Celina. He loves the place, the place loves him and in a full season under McKenna with a decent target man in front of him every game, I can only see him getting more and more influential on games. Would prefer a permanent, but would be delighted to see him back on a one year loan with an option for permanent after promotion. Twine would be great too though, but with unknowns in terms of settling into the team and the area. |
I got an uppie from DaveU for this. I feel dirty, really dirty. Wtf?
