You do realise, that our style has us second in the league 4 points behind the leaders.

Man City's has them second in the league, 5 points behind the leaders.

Of course our players are not as good as Man City's. The opposition we play against are not as good as Man City's.

KM's style is a blessing. To suggest otherwise is plain crassness.

Strange take. Its a compliment to KM and what he's brought to town.

And yes I'm well aware where we are in the table. It's a shame as we had the opportunity to be top of the table with a lead over plymouth ourselves.

Plymouth have excelled in the key areas of the pitch so far this season. According to a table I saw recently, the chances they create and concede in their games would in other circumstances see them 15 points worse off. This is if robots were in charge of putting balls into the net and keeping them out across the league. NB. This alternative league table would see us 8 points clear of 2nd place, 13 points clear of 3rd.

* Don't suggest there is luck involved in where they are now. They possess top quality in key positions. Hard to keep so far ahead of the expected goals / points curve over a whole season, but if they keep their Championship level players fit and playing for them they can do it.

You are all over the place, here.

Firstly, when we drop points it is never because we are 'too good'. It is because we are 'not good enough'. Last night we were not good enough to win. Scoring two goals will, far more often than not, be enough to get the three points but we have a brittle defence and, time and again, it is proving costly.

You then seem to assert, in your other two paragraphs, that our players aren't good enough. So our players aren't good enough but as a team we are too good? It doesn't make sense.

In your second paragraph you seem to be suggesting that the top sides are copying us (arf) and then you say that 'our problem' is that we don't have those players. Well all of the League 1 sides have the same problem.

Sorry that you've missed the point I was making which someone else seems to have understood easily.

I didn't say we are too good I referred to the style of football KM has brought to the club. Its not seen at this level of football. And of course the top clubs aren't copying us. I didn't say that or if it came across that way then apologies. I meant the coaching aspect from KM is of prem standard and judging on the way they speak about Middlesborough.. Carrick is doing the exact same there in the championship.

It's a higher league style not seen at any other league 1 sides.

"that in itself is a problem when having to manage league 1 players." says otherwise but never mind.

Aston Villa were not the best Division One team in 1981 which is why we beat them three times that season.

The team that wins the league always deserves to. It’s just that it’s not always the best team.

I think you've rather missed the point here.

He didn't say we are too good, he said the style, shape and movement coached into the team is more suitable to football at a higher level. At the higher level you are more likely to have players who can change the game by themselves. At the moment, we're short of these players. Primarily because we're playing in League One.

If we go up, I wouldn't expect the style to change much, but we are very likely to have better quality players in place.

It's a philosophy aimed at the long term, which doesn't always come off at League One level mainly due to the limitations of the squad, excellent though they are.

Well they finished top, so they were.

It was a bit more nuanced ..

In 1980-81 Ipswich played 66 competitive games while Villa played just 46 games ... that was the key factor.

Luckily for Villa they only used 14 players the whole season and were spared bad injuries to key players.

For Town the likes of Gates, Mariner, Thijssen and Brazil all spent time on the sidelines.

Villa didn't have the distraction of winning a European competition and were knocked out of the FA Cup third round by you know who.

Thankfully for them they weren't quite good enough to worry about winning a treble.

It is a strange post, as it seems to take issue with claims made by other managers about us and then put that on us as being arrogant. Surely the claims of other managers have nothing to do with our own opinion of ourselves? Maybe all a bit more tongue in cheek than we have given it credit for.

Having said that, it is no stranger than some of the stuff posted on here, or any other football forum. Generally I wish Plymouth well. If any team is to beat us to top spot, they would be my preferred choice by a long shot. Hopefully we get our recruitment in January spot on and have no need to worry about anyone else. Nothing is guaranteed in December, despite what the media may say.

We definitely aren't the best. No way. Too soft. We will rue some of the leads we threw away come the end of the season. As for the playoffs, we will be way to soft again.

And to think I want Plymouth to go up ahead of the other rivals...

In all seriousness, the poster has a point, unfortunately. We do wilt under pressure, we don't take advantage of good positions, we have a glass jaw. Plymouth, for now, are better.

They’re saying about our glass jaw but it’s worth noting they’ve bottled promotion for the last 3 years. Let’s hope for the same this year

We've not been outplayed by any team in the 24 games so far - although you could certainly argue that Plymouth were the better team for the last 20 mins at their place.

Problem is that we have the habit of conceding when the opposition manage to create a chance while at the same time failing to score the goals our domination perhaps merits - hence we sit 4 point off top rather than being miles ahead. Too many draws in games where we have been ahead.

Wednesday are unbeaten in 14 and seem to be able to find late goals regularly. Plymouth look to have got over their slight wobble of a few weeks ago. Barnsley have found form and are likely to be in contention for automatic promotion if they win their games in hand.

To win the league we need to start turning draws into wins because I don't see either of Plymouth or Wednesday suddenly falling away.

I still stand by my thoughts that KM's style is To good for this league and that in itself is a problem when having to manage league 1 players.

If you watch the top prem sides, the football and phases of play, player rotations etc etc are all a carbon copy of what town attempts to do. Our problem is that we don't have a Haaland or a De Bruyne, a Saka at Arsenal who can turn it on with a drop of a shoulder.

Man City as an example come up against teams sitting deep alot.. they don't panic, they go about there business just like we did last night. But you can always trust one of their stars to do something, we don't have that luxury and I personally feel this is what lets us down when it matters.

Yeah,we should know our place and just stick to hoofball, how dare we aspire to play decent attractive football?!

I couldn't care less if they win the league, so long as we go up with them.

The fact is that them, us and Sheffield Wednesday have maintained a phenomenal pace, but one is going to miss out on automatic promotion. Obviously hope we're one of the teams in the top 2, but would be quite happy if Plymouth are the others.

That is understandable though isn't it.

When your best players come from Villa, Swansea and the budgies why would you want to be called Plymouth.

Scumsea Villa would be more relevant.

What opportunity? I’m hearing this a lot.

Why have we had a better opportunity than Plymouth to be top of the league? Ok so if we win every game we’d be clear top. But so would Plymouth.

Or is this just a sense of entitlement?

Why is it entitlement to think without letting so many points drop, we'd be top? it's not entitlement, it's just fact that without those dropped points, we'd be top. Of course you can't win all games, but the Charlton, Fleetwood, Wednesday games as first examples are one's we should have put to bed and didn't. That's 6 points just from those alone.

Are we 2nd, yes, just. Good points total, absolutely. BUT whether you want to believe it or not, the opportunity has been there to be top with a few points between us.
