I’m not a golf fan, but watched that Netflix documentary on the players etc.
With this news, it’s further evidence that good guys finish last.
You’ve got someone of them walked over and got £200m in their pockets, the guys that stayed loyal to the PGA weren’t even consulted over this merger, and will be back playing with those greedy fckers.

Whike the PGA Tour is a member owned organisation (with convenient huge tax breaks) it certainly hasn't been acting like one, but I'm sure the bottom line on this one is going to be ven more money for pro golfers, although most of it will go to the top players, who blatantly don't need it. | |

There’s a disturbing template here for a breakaway European Super League. Just like with the golf, it would threaten the overall competition and market for football by fragmenting it and there’d be talks of boycotts and bans etc. But ultimately the wider footballing industry would then decide to bring it back “in-house” to protect the industry and its total revenue.
That’s all beside the point that, objectively speaking, football probably needs the best players and teams playing against each other more often than currently. Might be upsetting for purists, traditionalists and smaller clubs left out but football will just lose ground to the competition like NBA basketball, e-sports and YouTube etc. as these are clearly better packaged towards the next generations.
Not my preference at all but it is the most likely destination now that football is becoming such a big global “product” and trillion-dollar marketplace. |  |

Exactly. Once any sport generates a certain amount of revenue, it becomes a business & the old rules no longer apply. The USA is fortunate that it's 3 main sports aren't hugely popular in the rest of the world. | |
