With whom?

I think we're just down to Lucan and DaveU who'd have a pint(that they'd have to pay for) with Boris now.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

I doubt. Johnson and his latter day Brownshorts will be rooted out and removed. Sunak has already begun inching the party back to what we once knew it to be, not the rage bag of right wing loons. And Osborne's comments today are just one of a number of opening shots.

Toad, Ratty, Mole and Badger will want to see the weasels, stoats and other assorted vermin destroy themselves before they make a decisive move to take back Toad Hall (Tory Party). That will mean seeing this lot sunk without trace at the next election.

Only a thorough humiliation in the election will give them the authority to lay claim to the party, and spell out the need for it to head back to the middle ground. Johnson might kid himself it was 'me that won it', but internal Tory polling showed Johnson was third behind Brexit and Corbyn as the reason for the 2019 victory.

To 'get back' Johnson needs a constituency to fight. And a safe one at that. There's not a chance of a constituency going against head office and selecting him.

And fittingly, for a man who dreamed of leaving a lasting legacy in the form of a bridge, and tunnel or some edifice named after him, his legacy to the country will be of the man who caused so many deaths with his incompetent handling of covid, who caused so much harm to the UK economy by pushing for Brexit, and any number of kids of which two are yet to grow up hating him, as the others do.

A true legacy of a venal and contemptuous man, who lied and lied until the lying could no longer hide the true nature of the man.

He could always find himself a sympathetic marginal seat and fight as an independent, or maybe even head up his own UK 'Freedom" Party. He is far from done politically.

One possible route back to power is to have a small party and take the old UKIP spaces. Assuming we will have to realign with the EU at some point, he can keep fighting the Brexit fight for years to come.

He can set up a party, get himself a seat, even get maybe a few more and find himself as a junior partner in a Tory coalition in 2029 or 2034. There are going to be a load of out of work Tory MPs after the next election looking for way back which he can recruit.

He’ll wash around and come up with unrealistic ideas and some of the chinless idiots will blindly follow him, but in a political sense Johnson is dead man walking.

What I find bizarre is how wedded the swivel eyed loons are to the fantasy that they’ve somehow been betrayed. That others have torpedoed things like Brexit, investment etc. Their own accountability? Nah, none of that.

One obvious flaw in that cunning plan. Over 85% of the public think he is a liar.* They have decisively voted against him as a Tory, He has no chance as in indepents. Nor would he were he to form some Bigots4Boris fringe Party. Check out Farage's seven failed attempts at that.

Any Brexit fight has long since come and gone. It is now about clearing up the mess and returning to the EU. It would be akin to fighting the introduction of wearing seat belts and crash helmets. Or smoking in many public places. All very contentious at the time, but now seen as relevant as the Lords Day Observance society.

This is the no small matter of the Covid enquiry. One where his conduct will come under closer scrutiny that any questioning on whether he was holding pi ss ups in breach of the then current rules. These will be matters of ignoring medical advice when not locking down, his big lie about vaccinations and overseeing corruption in the supply of PPE.

This time it is a former High Court judge, with far greater powers than a Parliamentary committee. Already the 'decommissioned' phone Johnson was using up to April 2021 has been asked for as evidence. Undoubtedly, the thought is it will still be possible to read the messages.

I suspect this will be the 'court case' Johnson has long deserved to face. As with the Orange faced fraud in the US.

I think the only come back we are likely to see will be attempts by the UK to get Johnson to come back from Russia where he has fled.

I don't believe for one second we've seen the last of him and that he is just going to walk away and spit columns out for the Spector for the rest of his days.

I can see him setting up a party and looking to control that space left by Farage etc. UKIP were a massive failure in elections, but thats wasn't the point. They were just grifters looking for an opportunity. Johnson is just a political opportunist and whatever you or I think of him, he is a brilliant one.

Even if 85% think he is a liar, he is already dropping in the Trumpist antiestablishment rhetoric and the 15% left are a there for the taking if they fall for it. That is still influence and keeps him in the game. All he needs to do is keep shouting kangaroo court and witch hunt and any enquiry won't touch his core support.

No way is he setting up a new party. Tat would require too much hard work.

He's going to sabotage Sunak's Premiership, get himself a safe seat and become leader of the opposition when the Tories lose the next election.

It's a role that he will revel in. Constantly in campaign mode, making loads of unfunded and unachievable promises, whilst poking his tongue out at Starmer once a week at PMQ's.

Regardless of the view one takes of Boris this is a sad day for democracy. A committee of MPs most of whom already called him guilty before evidence was taken have made this happen. Any minister saying something wrong by mistake can now be dealt with like this.

What is sad for democracy, is people actively undermining the fairest most neutral process that parliament is able to engage and claiming it must be wrong because they don't like the outcome. Having seen and heard little or none of the evidence, and having no real understanding of the actual rules, or what integrity in public office ought to mean.

Boris has declined his opportunity to take part in the established democratic process, as is his right, but to then bleet about being forced out is pathetic.

A committee with a majority of Tory MPs.

'Accidentally' lying through your teeth isn't really an excuse that anyone other than a four year old can use, and then we just tolerate them rather than believe them. We certainly shouldn't let them run the country or anything like that.

It's a fine day for democracy; we have to try to get some accountability back into politics and business or we're f**ked. This could be seen as a start.
